New to Grow
First and foremost, I am a father of two. I hold a doctorate in clinical psychology and have worked in government setting as a supervisor to many social workers over the past 28 years. I have been licensed as a therapist in California since 2004 and have worked with 100s of individuals, couples and teens since then. I have had over 200 hours of post PHD training in the areas of anxiety, depression, child abuse and neglect, bipolar disorder, couples counseling, divorce, child custody and phobia.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
You are you. You live the life you focus on. Don't hold back and share everything. Be ready to be coached throughout the process and in every session. See therapy as a joint effort to make an improved you. Try to accept some feedback because the process is about creating a different structure.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I listen to what is said and to what is conveyed behind what is said. I check your strength as well as areas of need. We will focus on measurable outcome.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Clients with psychological openness usually respond better to my methodology. They often have the willingness to reflect on their thoughts, behavers and emotions. They often have curiosity about their internal experiences. They have a desire to improve rather than obtaining a validation. They are ready to take some responsibility and do the needed work. They understand that engagement creates change.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
By examining our thought process, we stablish a baseline for the root causes of the behavior, choices and the maladaptive behaviors that cause stress and disfunction. Often restructuring the thought can lead to a healthier life. maladaptive cognition leads to psychological distress and unapproved or accepted behaviors. Some thoughts are habitual, others are reinforced beliefs that we have gathered through parents, community, religion or the subculture we are in. Some will require a deep dive and replacing them with a more adaptive alternative to modify and reinforce behavior change.
