Your present circumstances don't determine where you go; they merely determine where you start. -Nido Qubein I take a whole person and collaborative approach to therapy, catering therapy to the individual sitting in front of me. My specialties are in the field of grief and loss. Grief is not just bereavement, it is also the loss of a job, a relationship or a dream.
In our first session, I go over our legal and ethical guidelines to set a safe and secure working environment. We will spend time to explore some history, previous experience with therapy and what goals you have at this point in time.
In a previous career, I hired, trained and developed people with the goal of them becoming the best version of themselves. In therapy, through our connection and collaboration we are working on the same. My goal is to see a client come into therapy with a goal, yet to leave as better version of themselves, even if small steps are made on this journey to taking bigger steps. I like to open one up to exploring the self and the world around them in new ways.
Anxiety, depression, grief and loss may be present during different times in our lives. As a licensed, marriage and family therapist I have the ability to meet you wherever you are in the life span process. I am a certified Expressive Arts Therapist and can integrate this work into our sessions for those who are open to it. This work is beneficial to those going through life transitions and are looking for new ways to view the world. I am also an approved provider for State Approved Gambling Counseling in the State of Calfornia.
Direct Experience working with grieving individuals and families in hospice organization. Lead individual and group therapy sessions for child, spousal, sibling and parental loss.
My style is focused on a whole person approach to therapy. As a previous massage therapist, I worked with the body and as a psychotherapist I work with the mind. However, they work together.
