Hi I am Kao, I firmly believe that as humans we have an innate desire for growth and balance. Unfortunately, often we physically respond to ingrained negative cues and messages that get stuck in our body. Many times these old cues manifest themselves in our body as anxiety, depression, and other trauma responses. It can feel like we are living life just trying to cope with the loudness of these negative messages. What if instead of just gaining tools to “cope” with these trauma responses, we could eliminate them all together? How might your life look? My hope is that in our work together we will be able to address wounds and move towards healing so that you don’t have to “cope” anymore. Instead you can thrive and have a sense of self-awareness that brings constant peace and clarity.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I am trained as a trauma-informed therapist. I work through an “attachment lens” and when beneficial will incorporate my EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) training to reprocess some of those old messages that may still be replaying in your body. That said, I believe in a collaborative relationship in the therapy room and we will go at your pace, and keep an explorative stance through the duration of our time togerher.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I aim to create a safe and warm atmosphere in the therapy room, while remaining direct and curious. I mean it when I say I do not want you to survive and put a band-aid on it, I am interested in transformational work that can only come from true deep healing.

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

It is no secret that human beings are wired for connection! Sometimes the lack of connection with others and even with our own selves can bring up undesirable symptoms like anxiety and depression. I seek to explore with you past and present relationships, and to create strong and secure bonds that lead you to the most authentic version of you.

EMDR

I have been using Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) in my practice for almost 4 years. I find that most times this modality helps heal from trauma more quickly and efficiently than other forms of therapy. It works by reprocessing some of those old messages that may still be replaying in your body. This method is not appropriate for every client, we can discuss together if this is something you are interest in and if it can be incorporated to your treatment plan.
