Hello there, I’m Chris. Do you feel like you mind is constantly racing in different directions? Are you struggling to set boundaries with family and friends? Is it hard to keep up with personal relationships (work and health)? Do you have a hard time scheduling time for self-care? Is it hard to have self-compassion and kindness for yourself for past mistakes? I help adults/older teens manage their stress, anxiety, and depression to avoid burnout. Together we will collaborate and identify ways to help you to have a work-life balance. I take a humanistic, traumatic-informed, and person-centered approach to help my client’s learn self-regulation techniques to manage mental health problems with clarity. I specialize in a variety of mindfulness-based interventions that will help support you in rediscovering creative ways to regulate their thoughts, emotions, and actions to live happier lives. Whether you are dealing with overwhelming feelings, toxic relationships, or cycles of anxiety and depression, I am here to support you. Seeking therapy can be scary but you are making the right choice in taking care of your mental health. You deserve a safe place to share thoughts and feelings without judgement. In our sessions I will meet you where you are with compassion and evidenced based interventions so you can overcome the negative thoughts that are holding you back from living your authentic life. Let’s work together as a team.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll review the questionnaire you completed and start with brief introductions. Using a mindfulness approach we will slowly dive into the specific challenges you're dealing with in your daily life. This will help me create an individualized plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strength is building positive relationships with my clients quickly. I also feel fortunate to be able to work with various clients ages 16-61, different cultural backgrounds, and sexual orientations. I specialize and enjoy supporting my clients who are suffering from emotional stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and LGBTQIA+ issues.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy supporting women, the LQBTQIA+ community, and people of color. My clients are empaths. Empaths are said to feel what others are feeling so deeply that they “absorb” or “take on” the emotions themselves, often at the expense of their own emotional well-being. My clients are eager to improve balance in their lives, but don't have tools or time to make their dreams and reality. They often have hard time setting boundaries with close friends and family, feel anxious and overwhelmed, and don't spend enough time taking care of themselves.

My treatment methods

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

In my practice, I have extensive experience with mindfulness-based therapy, which I use to help clients cultivate present-moment awareness and reduce stress. This approach involves guiding clients through mindfulness exercises such as meditation and deep breathing to enhance their ability to observe thoughts and emotions without judgment. By integrating mindfulness into therapy sessions, I support clients in developing greater self-awareness, improving emotional regulation, and fostering a more compassionate relationship with themselves. This method is particularly effective in managing anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges by promoting a sense of calm and clarity.

Humanistic

As a therapist practicing from a humanistic perspective, I focus on empowering clients to explore their unique experiences and perspectives, fostering personal growth and self-actualization. My approach emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity, creating a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to discover their strengths and potential. By using techniques like active listening and reflective questioning, I support clients in taking responsibility for their choices and actions, helping them navigate challenges and achieve greater self-awareness and fulfillment. This approach encourages clients to view themselves as capable of change and growth, rather than being defined by their problems.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

As a therapist utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), I help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to their distress. My approach involves working collaboratively with clients to set clear goals and develop practical strategies for managing symptoms of anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues. Through techniques such as cognitive restructuring and exposure therapy, I support clients in learning how to reframe unhelpful thoughts, develop more adaptive coping skills, and improve their overall mental well-being. By focusing on the present and empowering clients with tools for self-change, CBT enables them to achieve lasting improvements in their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Positive Psychology

As a therapist practicing from a positive psychology perspective, I focus on helping clients cultivate strengths, resilience, and well-being, rather than solely addressing deficits or pathology. My approach emphasizes identifying and building on clients' positive qualities, such as gratitude, hope, and optimism, to enhance their overall life satisfaction and happiness. By using interventions like strengths-based exercises and positive reframing, I support clients in developing a more balanced and fulfilling life, fostering a sense of purpose and meaning, and promoting long-term psychological flourishing. This approach empowers clients to view challenges as opportunities for growth and to capitalize on their unique strengths to achieve their goals.

Motivational Interviewing

As a therapist using motivational interviewing (MI), I work collaboratively with clients to explore and resolve ambivalence about making positive changes in their lives. My approach involves creating a supportive and non-confrontational environment where clients feel empowered to examine their motivations and goals. By using techniques such as open-ended questioning and reflective listening, I help clients identify and strengthen their own reasons for change, rather than imposing external solutions. This approach fosters a sense of autonomy and self-efficacy, allowing clients to take ownership of their decisions and develop the motivation needed to achieve lasting behavioral changes and improve their overall well-being.
