New to Grow
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Rebecca is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 9 years of experience, having worked in both the medical and veterinary fields. She received her Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Emerson College and Master of Social Work Degree from USC with a focus in Adults and Healthy Aging. She is passionate about making sure people feel heard and validated in their feelings, and are empowered with the information and coping skills they need to feel their best. Having the courage to seek out therapy is a massive first step to take, Rebecca prioritizes creating a safe space to share feelings, past experiences, questions, and concerns.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
It can be scary going into a new situation and not knowing what to expect. In our first session together, we will take it slow. I will start by asking some questions to get to know you better, understand your mental health history, assess your present concerns, and work together to indentify your goals for your therapy journey.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Having worked in the heart of Los Angeles for my entire career, I have had the privilege of working with people from many backgrounds. I am passionate about building rapport with my clients, as therapy can feel very vulnerable, especially for those who have never gone before (or had previous negative experiences). I generally use a multi-modal (multiple therapy modalities) approach with my clients to tailor therapy to every individual's needs. Finding the right therapist can be a challenge, please know I am always open to feedback concerning our work together.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Rebecca is passionate about working with people experiencing grief (or anticipatory grief) of a loved one (both human or companion animal), medical or veterinary staff, individuals experiencing compassion fatigue or burnout, individuals coping with a new diagnosis or a progression of a chronic medical condition, as well as individuals experiencing depression or anxiety. That being said, Rebecca is open to working with all people who are motivated to start their therapy journey.
Motivational Interviewing
I believe you have the answers to most of your questions. Utilizing motivational interviewing, I can act as a mirror to reflect back to you what I'm hearing, and work together as a team to build coping skills to work through your concerns.
Eclectic
I don't believe therapy is "one size fits all". As people, we cannot fit into one box. I feel it's important to look at a person holistically, and piece together aspects of different therapy modalities that work best for an individual and their current concerns and/or goals.
Grief Therapy
Having worked in both the veterinary and medical field I have extensive experience with grief counseling of both people and companion animals.
Multicultural
Having worked in the heart of Los Angeles my entire career, I have experiences working with people from all backgrounds. Cultural competency has always been an important aspect of my clinical career. Our identify shapes our lives in so many ways. It's important to feel save, and validated within this therapeutic relationship.
Psychoeducation
There is power in information- as an LCSW I have expertise in diagnostics and coping skills. I want to work together with you to empower you with the information you need to succeed.
