You may look like you have everything together on the outside while privately feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or uncertain about how to move forward. I work with adults navigating anxiety, trauma, women's issues, life transitions, and LGBTQ+ related concerns. Many of my clients come to therapy during periods of change, loss, self discovery, or emotional distress when the strategies that once worked no longer seem enough. Whether you're struggling with persistent worry, processing difficult experiences, navigating relationship challenges, rebuilding your confidence, or trying to better understand yourself, therapy can provide a space to pause, reflect, and heal. My goal is to help you gain greater clarity, reconnect with your strengths, and create a life that feels more aligned with your values, needs, and sense of purpose.

My name is Dr. Butler (Bennie) and Iam an LPC, LAC and PhD in CO and VA serving those that are dealing with the following: depression, anxiet, bi-polar, maital/couples issues, existential issues (life meaning), issues of faith, addictions, disassociative issues and the Like. I have taught psychology, and plan to again, at the college level and I have been the owner of LoveJoy Counseling for 15+ years in CO and I am now expanding into the GROW platform. I am polite and professional, but fairly straight-forward tending to work with those who are at a point where they understand that change takes some level of challange. In short, I have experience with both theory and the applied science associated with psychology and can draw from both to apply in a professional, non-judgemental, yet honest wayGreat. I am 61 years of age, I have lived in various places around the world and have seen the common threads of humanity throughout.

I specialize in helping adults understand the connection between past experiences and present-day patterns. My approach is direct and collaborative. Together, we use a blueprint that balances emotional identification and processing with data-point mapping to better understand how the mind shapes thoughts, behaviors, and day-to-day life, often outside of conscious awareness. We identify triggers, core beliefs, learned coping patterns, and recurring reactions, then examine how they influence relationships, decision-making, and other areas of present-day functioning. The goal of our work is not simply to understand why these patterns exist, but to recognize them as they happen and develop more intentional ways of responding. Through this process, many clients report experiencing greater self-awareness, increased emotional insight, and a stronger sense of control over their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside individuals as they navigate life’s challenges for the past 30 years. It’s truly an honor to support people through difficult times and be part of their journey toward healing and growth. I’ve supported individuals working through trauma, addiction, anxiety, grief, and major life transitions. I work with people who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain—often carrying pain they’ve held for a long time. Together, we begin a journey of healing and change, uncovering what’s been holding them back and building a path forward that feels meaningful, empowering, and aligned with who they truly are. My approach is warm and grounded in evidence-based practices. I strive to help you feel safe, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes. The work we do together can help you reconnect with yourself, build resilience, and create a life that feels more balanced and fulfilling.

I help teens and women heal from complex childhood trauma, neglect, and abuse—especially when those experiences show up as people-pleasing, identity loss, painful relationships, intense emotions, or a complicated relationship with food and their bodies. I became a therapist because this work genuinely matters to me. Over the past nine years, I have seen how trauma can remain hidden beneath perfectionism, overachievement, unhealthy relationships, disordered eating, and the feeling that you have no idea who you are because you spent so long surviving. I also understand that trauma symptoms are frequently misunderstood, treated only at the surface, or confused with features associated with diagnoses such as Borderline Personality Disorder or Bipolar Disorder. I take time to understand the whole person—not just the label. I am warm, down-to-earth, and honest. I balance validation with respectfully challenging the beliefs and behaviors that keep you stuck. I have ADHD, two tiny chihuahua coworkers named Bryn and Blair, and licenses to provide therapy in Florida, Illinois, Texas, and Colorado. I am proudly a girls’ girl, and my practice is mainly focused on the mental health and relational experiences of teens and women.

If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near your address.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
