New to Grow
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with advanced training under a current NASA psychologist—an experience that has shaped my commitment to precision, curiosity, and high-level clinical care. I specialize in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and am trained in EMDR, as well as certified in Prepare and Enrich for couples work. I am deeply interested in how people think, feel, and relate, and I approach therapy with both intellectual curiosity and genuine care for helping clients thrive. My style blends humor, compassion, and honesty to create a space that is both supportive and grounded. Outside of my work, I enjoy hiking, camping, fly fishing, biking, cooking, and exploring new restaurants.
In our first session, we’ll begin by exploring your story and taking a thoughtful history to understand the experiences that have shaped you. We’ll then focus on your current challenges and what feels most important to address right now. From there, we’ll work together to identify clear, practical steps toward change, tailored to your goals and pace. Throughout the process, you can expect a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and understood.
I have received advanced clinical training through a CACREP-accredited program and have worked closely under psychologists and expert specialists in the field. This intensive training environment allowed me to develop a strong ability to recognize patterns and work efficiently with complex emotional and relational issues. I’m particularly skilled at helping clients get to the root of their distress—often uncovering patterns that operate outside of conscious awareness. Many clients share that they begin to see themselves and their experiences in a new way, even after years of prior therapy. My approach combines deep insight with practical, actionable steps. Together, we not only understand the underlying causes of your challenges, but also develop clear strategies to help you create lasting, meaningful change.
I work best with motivated adults who are open to meaningful change and deeper healing. Many of my clients are in midlife, navigating the lasting impact of earlier experiences on their current relationships, work, and sense of self. I’m particularly skilled at helping clients understand how past trauma and attachment patterns show up in the present—often as anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, burnout, or a persistent sense of feeling stuck or disconnected. This may include symptoms such as chronic worry, difficulty relaxing, low mood, irritability, shame, people-pleasing, or challenges with boundaries and self-worth. I also support clients through life transitions, such as career changes, relationship shifts, parenting challenges, and questions of identity, purpose, and spirituality. This may include working with individuals exploring faith, spiritual concerns, or healing from religious trauma, helping them reconnect with their values and sense of meaning in a way that feels authentic and self-directed. Together, we work to make sense of these experiences, build emotional regulation, and create more aligned, fulfilling ways of living both at home and at work.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
I have extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an evidence-based approach effective for anxiety, depression, trauma, and even physical health concerns. EFT is also considered the gold standard for couples therapy, helping partners strengthen connection, repair trust, and navigate conflict in more secure ways. This approach focuses on the powerful link between emotions, attachment, and the nervous system. In our work, we slow things down to understand not just your thoughts, but the deeper emotional patterns that shape your experiences and relationships. By integrating both the thinking and feeling parts of the brain, EFT helps you respond to yourself and others with greater clarity, resilience, and compassion. Over time, this creates a more grounded sense of self—where you can move through life with greater emotional balance, stronger relationships, and a deeper sense of wisdom in your body.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an evidence-based approach for anxiety, depression, trauma, and stress-related challenges. ACT helps you develop a different relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions—so they have less control over your behavior and sense of self. In our work, we focus on building psychological flexibility: the ability to stay present, open, and grounded while taking meaningful action aligned with your values. Rather than trying to eliminate distress, ACT supports you in creating a life that feels purposeful, even in the presence of discomfort.
Psychodynamic
I use a psychodynamic approach to help uncover how past experiences and relationships shape your current thoughts, emotions, and patterns. This work is especially helpful for long-standing concerns such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and issues related to self-worth. In our work, we explore underlying themes, unconscious patterns, and emotional experiences that may be outside of awareness. By bringing these into insight and understanding, you can begin to shift old patterns, develop a stronger sense of self, and engage in relationships with greater clarity and authenticity.
Existential
I incorporate existential therapy to explore deeper questions around meaning, identity, choice, and life transitions. This approach is especially helpful when you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or questioning your direction, purpose, or sense of self. For those who wish, this work can also include exploration of your faith or spiritual beliefs as part of making meaning. In our work, we create space to reflect on what truly matters to you and how you want to live, even in the face of uncertainty. This process can help you develop greater clarity, authenticity, and a more grounded sense of meaning in your life.
EMDR
I incorporate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as needed to support the processing of trauma and distressing experiences. EMDR is an evidence-based approach that helps the brain reprocess stuck memories so they feel less overwhelming and more integrated. I use EMDR thoughtfully and collaboratively, when it aligns with your goals and readiness, rather than as a one-size-fits-all approach. This allows us to target specific experiences while staying grounded in a broader, supportive therapeutic process.
