New to Grow
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado and the owner of Thrive Counseling & Wellness, a virtual private practice dedicated to helping individuals find healing, resilience, and renewed hope. For more than a decade, I have had the privilege of walking alongside people as they navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic illness, chronic pain, and life's unexpected challenges. My passion for this work comes from a deep belief that every person deserves to feel heard, understood, and supported without judgment. I know that many people carry invisible struggles while appearing to have everything together on the outside. Creating a space where clients feel safe enough to be authentic, vulnerable, and fully themselves is at the heart of my practice. I take a collaborative and compassionate approach to therapy, meeting each client where they are while helping them identify practical tools for lasting change. My work draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and EMDR, allowing me to tailor treatment to each individual's unique experiences and goals. I have a special passion for supporting individuals living with chronic illness, chronic pain, high-functioning anxiety, depression, and the emotional impact of medical trauma. I believe therapy is about more than reducing symptom; it is about helping people reconnect with themselves, build confidence, strengthen relationships, and create lives that feel meaningful and fulfilling. It is truly an honor to earn my clients' trust and to witness the courage, growth, and resilience they discover along the way.
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you've never worked with a therapist before or if you've had experiences where you didn't feel heard. My goal is to make your first session feel like the beginning of a conversation, not an interrogation. During our first appointment, we'll spend time getting to know one another. I'll invite you to share what brought you to therapy, the challenges you're currently facing, and what you hope will be different in your life as a result of our work together. You are welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable; there is no expectation that you tell your entire life story in one session. I'll also ask questions about your personal history, relationships, health, and other areas that may be influencing your emotional well-being. This helps me gain a better understanding of the whole person, not just the symptoms that brought you in. Throughout the session, you're encouraged to ask questions, share concerns, and let me know what you need to feel comfortable. By the end of our first session, we'll begin identifying your goals for therapy and discuss what the path forward may look like. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to your unique needs. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, chronic illness, chronic pain, trauma, or a major life transition, we'll work together at a pace that feels right for you. Most importantly, I hope you'll leave your first session feeling heard, understood, and with the reassurance that you don't have to navigate life's challenges alone.
I believe one of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood. I approach each session with curiosity, compassion, and authenticity, recognizing that every person's story is unique and deserves to be met without judgment. Clients often come to me feeling emotionally exhausted from trying to manage everything on their own. Whether they're living with anxiety, depression, chronic illness, chronic pain, or the effects of trauma, I strive to help them make sense of their experiences while also equipping them with practical strategies they can use in everyday life. I value the balance between providing emotional support and helping clients create meaningful, lasting change. What sets my approach apart is my ability to see the whole person rather than focusing solely on symptoms. My background across multiple areas of behavioral healthcare has given me a broad understanding of the complex relationship between mental health, physical health, and the healthcare system. This perspective allows me to support clients who may be coping with medical diagnoses, navigating difficult healthcare experiences, or feeling overwhelmed by the intersection of physical and emotional challenges. I also believe that therapy works best when it feels like a true partnership. I don't see myself as the expert on your life; you are. My role is to provide guidance, evidence-based tools, and a safe, supportive environment where together we can better understand what's keeping you stuck and build on the strengths you already possess. My hope is that clients leave each session feeling not only supported, but also empowered and more confident in their ability to navigate life's challenges.
I work best with adolescents and adults who are ready to better understand themselves and create meaningful, lasting change. Many of my clients have spent years being the person others rely on; holding everything together on the outside while privately struggling with anxiety, depression, chronic stress, trauma, or the emotional impact of chronic illness and pain. I'm especially passionate about working with individuals who have felt misunderstood, dismissed, or overlooked, whether in their personal relationships or within the healthcare system. If you've ever been told "it's all in your head," questioned your own experiences, or felt alone in navigating a medical diagnosis, I understand how deeply those experiences can affect emotional well-being. Together, we'll work to help you regain confidence, reconnect with your strengths, and move forward with greater resilience. The clients who tend to benefit most from my approach are curious, open to self-reflection, and willing to actively participate in the therapeutic process. You don't need to have all the answers or even know exactly where to begin; but a willingness to explore new perspectives and practice new skills can make therapy especially meaningful. Whether your goal is to reduce anxiety, heal from trauma, navigate a life transition, strengthen relationships, or simply feel more like yourself again, I strive to create a supportive, collaborative space where you feel empowered to grow at a pace that feels right for you.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT helps us understand the connection between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we'll identify unhelpful thinking patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, or other challenges and replace them with more balanced, realistic perspectives. My goal is to provide practical tools that clients can continue using long after therapy has ended.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use DBT to help clients develop skills for managing intense emotions, reducing distress, improving relationships, and responding to life's challenges more effectively. Rather than trying to eliminate difficult emotions, DBT teaches us how to acknowledge them while making choices that align with our values and long-term goals. I often incorporate DBT techniques in a flexible, individualized way based on each client's needs.
Adlerian
Adlerian Therapy focuses on understanding how our life experiences, relationships, and beliefs shape the way we see ourselves and the world around us. I work collaboratively with clients to explore recurring patterns, identify personal strengths, and gain insight into the goals or beliefs that may be influencing current challenges. This approach encourages growth, resilience, and a greater sense of purpose while recognizing each person's capacity for positive change.
EMDR
EMDR is an evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain process distressing memories that may continue to affect thoughts, emotions, and behaviors long after an experience has passed. I use EMDR to help clients reduce the emotional intensity of traumatic or overwhelming experiences so they can move forward without feeling defined by the past. Treatment is always paced thoughtfully, with an emphasis on helping clients feel prepared, supported, and emotionally grounded throughout the process.
Eclectic
No two people have the same life experiences, challenges, or goals, so I don't believe therapy should follow a one-size-fits-all approach. I use an eclectic approach by thoughtfully integrating evidence-based therapies, including CBT, DBT, Adlerian Therapy, and EMDR, to create a treatment plan that is tailored to your unique needs. This flexibility allows us to adapt our work together as you grow, ensuring therapy remains personalized, practical, and focused on what will be most helpful for you.
