About me

Hello! My name is Cindy Dorestant. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who is passionate about working with clients who are ready to work toward the change they seek. I support clients navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and life transitions while creating a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard and understood. My approach is collaborative and empowering, helping clients recognize patterns, challenge unhelpful beliefs, develop practical coping tools, and create a healthier narrative for themselves. I believe therapy is a space where clients can be both supported and challenged as they grow, heal, and reconnect with who they are.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session, we’ll begin building a therapeutic relationship by creating a safe and supportive space for you to share what brought you to therapy and what may currently feel unaligned in your life. We’ll explore your experiences, concerns, and goals while beginning to identify what you would like to work toward in therapy.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to create a space where clients can feel both safe, heard, understood and challenged. I bring warmth, creativity, curiosity, and authenticity into my sessions while helping clients make sense of their experiences and recognize the patterns that may be affecting their lives. I enjoy helping clients turn insight into action by developing practical tools, challenging old narratives, and recognizing their own strengths so they can begin to feel more confident, empowered, and connected to themselves.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone who is ready to better understand themselves and work toward meaningful change, even if they aren't quite sure where to begin. They may be navigating anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, relationships, trauma, or a major life transition and feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. I especially enjoy working with teens, student-athletes, adults, and individuals who are discovering who they are and where they want to go next. My ideal clients are open to being both supported and challenged, willing to explore their experiences, and interested in developing practical tools that can help them heal, grow, and feel more like themselves again.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

We’ll focus on understanding the problem without allowing the problem to become the focus of your story. Together, we’ll explore what is working, identify your strengths and resources, and look for possibilities and solutions that can help you move forward.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

We’ll challenge the way you think and respond to situations by exploring the perceptions, beliefs, and experiences that shape your reactions. The goal isn’t to tell you how to think, but to help you pause, look at situations from different perspectives, and decide whether the way you’re responding is helping you move toward the life and relationships you want.

Narrative

We’ll work together to explore the story you’ve been telling yourself about who you are, what you’ve experienced, and what is possible for your future. You’ll have the opportunity to challenge old narratives, recognize your strengths, and begin creating a new story that reflects who you are becoming—not just what you’ve been through.
