About me

Welcome to A Sound Mind Counseling and Neurofeedback Center. I have a heart to see breakthrough, healing, and freedom for my clients. I have 20+ years history of working with adolescents and adults with learning differences: neurodivergence, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and executive functioning deficits. I have extensive experience working with individuals struggling with trauma, abuse, identity, and somatic issues. It is an honor and privilege to walk along side you in your healing journey.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

My intent is to provide a safe place where individuals can explore self-discovery, find their voice, and experience a release from the trauma that has held them. In our first session, we will get to know one another and discuss therapy expectations, goals, and strategies.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My approach to therapy I provide a client-centered integrated counseling approach for children 5+, teenagers, adults, couples, families, and neurodivergent along with IEP/504 individuals/students. I offer individual and couples talk therapy, CBT, child playtherapy, art therapy, Neurofeedback, brain spotting, parts work, gentle trauma work for abuse, neglect, PTSD symptoms, pastoral/spiritual counseling, and self-advocacy coaching.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with a broad range of ages and client struggles. To benefit from therapy, a client must be committed to the work and process of healing. This is your healing journey, a car ride with a destination to Freedom, and should be structured to meet your individual needs and goals. As a therapist, I am here to support you in your journey as a passenger in the vehicle you are driving. It is an honor and exciting to partner with you in your process. When your goals are met, then I will exit the vehicle celebrating your success.

My treatment methods

Biofeedback

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive approach that trains your brain to change its own activity. It creates new neural pathways of thinking to shift behavior, emotional regulation, and cognitive ability. It is helps with mental health issues such as insomnia, anxiety, depression, impulsivity, ADHD, PTSD, learning differences, and trauma.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a non-invasive, deep, brain-body psychotherapy approach. Unlike traditional talk therapy, which focuses on the conscious "thinking-logical" mind, Brainspotting bypasses logic to access the primitive emotional centers of the brain where trauma physically gets stuck.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a structured, goal-oriented talk therapy focused on how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. With this approach, one can identify and change unhelpful, negative thinking patterns, which changes your emotional response and behaviors.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS is an approach that views the mind as a family of different parts that make up the whole person. This approach helps people heal by understanding their inner parts, addressing the burdens they carry, and restoring and healing the parts that are wounded. Clients often reference, " There is this part of me that ..."

Somatic

Somatic approach focuses on the connection between the mind and the body. It helps people heal by acknowledging and tracking physical symptoms to process and release trauma or stress/triggers trapped in the nervous system. It often incorporates breath work, body scans, grounding exercises, and mindful movement.
