New to Grow
My journey began with a volunteer opportunity working with children in the care of the state, and expanded from there. Work experience ranges from acute inpatient care to my present career in outpatient care. Being a military veteran, my most recent career experience has been providing therapy to active duty, veterans and their families in a community setting. My dedication to this chosen field is driven by a deep desire to empower others, facilitate healing, and promote lasting positive change in the lives of those I've had the privilege of working with.
Our first session will include conversational questions to understand your background, current situation, and reasons for seeking therapy. We’ll get acquainted, set expectations, and discuss goals. I want to know what you hope to gain, and it’s also a great time to ask any questions about therapy. Let’s begin!
My primary goal is to build trust and a strong alliance with clients to assist in achieving lasting positive change. Regardless of what life brings to your doorstep, I am dedicated to providing compassionate and effective support in navigating those challenges. I create a supportive, safe space using an active, conversational, and collaborative approach. Together we challenge unhelpful beliefs and long-held narratives. I offer an empathetic, calm, non-judgmental presence and genuinely value your story, believing you are the expert in your own journey.
I am comfortable working with folks who experience depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, moral injury, and relationship challenges. I have worked with adults from varied walks of life including active-duty military, veterans, first responders, as well as couples and families. An active listener who prefers to create a supportive and safe environment for my clients, I utilize a conversational and collaborative approach, together, we will challenge unhelpful core beliefs and confront long-held narratives.
Other specialties
I identify as
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a type of counseling that helps people handle difficult thoughts and emotions without letting them take over their lives. Instead of trying to get rid of anxiety, sadness, or stress, ACT teaches you how to accept that these experiences are a normal part of being human while learning practical skills to keep moving toward what matters most to you. Together, we identify your personal values and work on making choices that reflect the life you want to live, even when things feel difficult.
Attachment-based
Attachment-based therapy focuses on understanding how our early relationships and life experiences shape the way we connect with others today. It helps people recognize patterns in their relationships, build trust, improve communication, and develop healthier ways of giving and receiving support. The goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can heal from past experiences, strengthen your relationships, and feel more secure and connected with the people who matter most.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical, goal-focused type of therapy that helps you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. Sometimes, unhelpful thinking patterns can keep us feeling stuck or overwhelmed. CBT teaches you how to recognize these patterns, challenge thoughts that aren't serving you, and replace them with more balanced ways of thinking while building healthy coping skills. The goal is to help you feel better and respond to life's challenges with greater confidence and resilience.
Couples Counseling
My main modality for couples therapy is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). EFT for couples helps partners understand the deeper emotions and needs that drive conflict and disconnection. Instead of focusing only on arguments or communication techniques, EFT helps couples recognize the patterns they get stuck in, express their feelings in a safe and honest way, and respond to each other with greater empathy and understanding. The goal is to strengthen the emotional bond between partners, rebuild trust, and create a more secure, connected, and supportive relationship.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for individuals helps you better understand your emotions and how past relationships and life experiences have shaped the way you see yourself and connect with others. Together, we explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck, learn to respond to difficult emotions with compassion instead of judgment, and build healthier ways of relating to yourself and the people in your life. The goal is to help you feel more secure, confident, and emotionally connected in your relationships.
