About me

Hi, I’m Taciana, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 11 years of experience supporting adolescents and adults through life transitions, emotional challenges, and difficult circumstances. I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely heard, understood, and respected, and I take a collaborative, strengths-based approach that meets you where you are. My practice integrates evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT-informed strategies, compassion-focused therapy, person-centered therapy, and culturally responsive care. I’m especially passionate about helping clients better understand themselves, navigate intense emotions, reduce self-criticism, and develop practical tools for creating meaningful change. I see therapy as a space where we can honor both the challenges you’ve experienced and the strengths that have helped you get this far.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring warmth, humor, authenticity, and a strong commitment to creating psychological safety in every session. I believe that feeling safe, respected, and genuinely understood is foundational to meaningful therapeutic work. I strive to create a space where clients can be honest about the messy, complicated, and sometimes uncomfortable parts of being human without fear of judgment. My approach is collaborative, but I’m not afraid to respectfully challenge clients when it may support their growth. I believe therapy is a balance between acceptance and accountability; honoring where you are while also exploring where you want to go. I also bring curiosity, cultural humility, and a strengths-based perspective to my work. I don’t believe there is a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, so I draw from different therapeutic modalities and tailor treatment to each person. Most importantly, I want therapy to feel human. Sometimes that means sitting with difficult emotions, sometimes it means having a challenging conversation, and sometimes it means laughing together when life gets a little ridiculous.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help clients identify connections between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and understand how these patterns may contribute to distress or difficulties in daily functioning. I work collaboratively with clients to identify unhelpful or distorted thought patterns, develop more balanced and compassionate perspectives, and practice practical coping and problem-solving strategies. I also incorporate behavioral interventions, such as behavioral activation, goal setting, and skills practice, to support meaningful changes outside of sessions. My use of CBT is collaborative, strengths-based, and individualized to the client’s needs, culture, and goals.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use DBT-informed interventions to help clients build skills for managing intense emotions, tolerating distress, improving interpersonal effectiveness, and increasing mindfulness. I work collaboratively with clients to identify emotional and behavioral patterns, develop practical coping strategies, and practice skills that can be applied in real-life situations. I incorporate DBT concepts such as emotion regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness while emphasizing self-compassion and the balance between acceptance and change. Interventions are individualized to the client’s needs, goals, and level of functioning.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I incorporate culturally responsive practices by recognizing and honoring the ways culture, identity, family, community, socioeconomic factors, and lived experiences can influence a client’s mental health and well-being. I work collaboratively with clients to understand their experiences within their cultural and social contexts rather than viewing concerns in isolation. I remain curious and self-reflective, while creating space for clients to define what is meaningful and important to them. Treatment is individualized to the client’s values, identity, strengths, and goals, with an emphasis on building trust, safety, and a genuine therapeutic relationship.

Compassion Focused

I use Compassion-Focused Therapy to help clients develop a more supportive and compassionate relationship with themselves, particularly when they experience shame, self-criticism, perfectionism, or feelings of inadequacy. I help clients recognize patterns of harsh self-judgment and understand how these patterns may contribute to emotional distress and difficulty coping. Through mindfulness, self-compassion practices, emotional regulation strategies, and compassionate reframing, clients learn to respond to themselves with greater understanding and acceptance. I integrate CFT in a collaborative, strengths-based manner to help clients build emotional resilience, reduce self-criticism, and develop a more balanced and supportive internal dialogue.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I use a person-centered approach by creating a supportive, nonjudgmental, and collaborative therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to identify their own goals for treatment. I prioritize empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard while recognizing that clients are the experts in their own lived experiences. Rather than directing the therapeutic process, I work alongside clients to explore their concerns, strengths, values, and existing capacity for growth. This approach allows treatment to be individualized to each client’s needs, pace, culture, and goals while fostering greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and personal agency.
