New to Grow
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been providing mental health services since 2013. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of New England and my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Wyoming. Throughout my career, I've worked with individuals who have experienced trauma, and I'm passionate about helping people reconnect with themselves and their strength. I also work closely with parents to build more structure and consistency in their homes, while supporting their own mental health growth. I started out working in the homes and communities of my clients through an intensive program, working with the families of children who were at risk for out of home placement, such as residential treatment or psychiatric hospitalization. This program was a 6 month therapeutic intervention, helping parents to better understand their children's needs, as well as helping children develop regulatory skills to help them be more successful, in their homes and communities. I provide virtual outpatient therapy to Colorado residents, working with individuals aged 15 and up who are struggling with daily functioning and searching for their true, authentic selves. My approach blends evidence-based methods, tailored to support you through distress and toward healing. I believe in meeting you exactly where you are, without judgment, and building a path forward together at a pace that feels right for you.
Our first session will be a get to know you session where you can ask any questions you might have about the process, and I will ask you about what brings you to the table, as well as your background; such as childhood, occupational/educational paths, relationships, traumas, etc. This assessment takes most of the first session, however by the end of the assessment, I try to provide a robust picture of what our journey will look like together, and what some of that work might look like, to prepare you for our first full session, where we start to dive into your distress.
Being able to sit with people in a non judgmental capacity, and hear someone for their successes and hurts, while holding unconditional positive regard for them. Also, I think humor is important when approaching mental health, I try to add levity to my sessions with metaphors and analogies to help re-enforce the concepts brought up in sessions.
