New to Grow
There are times in life when our ability to cope is no longer sufficient to get us through a difficult passage or challenge. This can leave us feeling anxious, depressed or lost. Therapy with me can help you develop coping skills, build resilience and heal. I am passionate about walking the healing journey with you while focusing on supporting your strengths. I am a dedicated Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with 25 years’ experience. I apply my training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing, and relationship/couples counseling to help you recover and develop your natural capacity to experience well-being and live a full, healthy life. My husband and I have raised an adopted daughter from Guatemala. It has been the privilege of a lifetime. The family expanded further recently and welcomed three canine friends! One is a loving service dog named Phoebe, the Golden Doodle. I enjoy hiking with Phoebe and cycling with my husband on our gorgeous Colorado trails.
I hope my clients feel seen and respected, not judged. At the end of the first session they have a sense of relief, clarity about what they are likely to experience, and assuredness that they are not alone or stuck. I aim to help them craft goals they feel good about to feel hopeful about next steps.
Having worked in large corporations in the US and abroad, I developed the ability to go "both wide and deep" with clients. I received that feedback from a Senior HR Leader and took her words to heart. Consequently, I lean more to engaging very actively with clients and offering challenges when the time is right. I hold a Masters in Philosophy as well as in Counseling Psychology; I believe that combination enables me to probe appropriately with clients and yet honor their sense of True North. I am compassionate, a very good listener, and offer many paths to my clients given over twenty years of experience, including raising a child!
My ideal client is in their 30's seeking to achieve work/life balance or coming with concerns about levels of stress on the job, working while raising young children and teens, concerns about the best career path, how to find meaningful work, and how to navigate communication breakdowns with partners. Finding a sense of "True North" and living a life congruent with their values is a sweet spot for me.
Through open ended inquiry and reflective listening, I help client note faulty assumptions and help then to move forward with new intentions
After initial sessions, I begin sessions with a body scan to help clients connect to any suppressed emotions or perceptions of themself. I then inquire of different "Parts" in the client's psyche and what it needs to be heard about
