Hi! I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in California. I graduated from California State University Northridge with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, and furthered my education at Antioch University Los Angeles, where I obtained a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology, specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy. I’ve had the privilege of working with different demographics in a range of therapeutic environments. I’ve worked with teens in the high school setting, with individuals struggling with substance abuse and eating disorders, as well as patients with depression, anxiety, low self esteem, trauma, toxic relationships, and co-dependency. I generally combine the use of both humanistic and client-centered psychotherapy in my work. With that said, I tailor my services to each client and their clinical needs. While accompanying my clients on their journey of change and growth, I provide them with unconditional compassion and acceptance. My goal is to cultivate an authentic human connection with my clients by creating a safe and comfortable space to explore, promoting growth, and facilitating change.

I approach each person as a unique human being with their own story, strengths, and struggles, and I see therapy as a collaborative process of moving forward together. At my core, I am a therapist who believes in the transformative power of depth, empathy, humor, and the arts. I’ve spent my career helping people understand themselves more fully — not only by reducing symptoms, but by uncovering the narratives, emotions, and self-limiting beliefs that have kept them small or stuck. I work from a humanistic and psychoanalytic foundation, integrating mindfulness, ACT, and solution-focused strategies to help clients access resilience, self-compassion, and real change. I bring a warm, grounded, and creative presence into the room. My background as an artist and writer shapes my work: I’m attentive to symbolism, story, imagination, and the deeper layers of a person’s emotional life. Humor is also one of my most natural tools, not to avoid pain, but to help clients feel safe, open, and connected as they explore difficult experiences. Across corporate mental health, trauma work, refugee support, and private practice, I’ve seen how people flourish when they’re permitted to be fully themselves. I help clients build self-esteem through honesty, curiosity, and acceptance; loosen rigid patterns; and move beyond the internalized messages or roles that no longer serve them.

As someone who has struggled with self-esteem and identity issues, I can help you re-frame self-defeating thoughts, resolve unconscious inner conflicts, and learn to value and trust your own experience. Therapy can help you feel more authentic, alive, and confident. I don't have the answers for anyone. What I might be able to help with are the questions you may have if you experience anxiety, depressed mood, conflict in your relationship, or if you find feeling good about yourself to be a challenge you can't quite resolve on your own. It takes courage to ask for help. No one really likes feeling vulnerable, including me. But being vulnerable with another person, and with ourselves, is a proven way to repair unhealed wounds and repair the damage life causes.

I am a licensed bilingual psychologist (Khmer and English) with a passion for helping people explore themselves deeply, understand their relationships, and grow into their fullest potential. My approach blends humanistic, insight-oriented, and experiential therapies, including talk therapy, drama therapy, play, and expressive arts. I create a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where clients can slow down, reflect, and explore who they truly are. I work with immigrants, BIPOC individuals, and anyone navigating identity, transition, cultural stress, or existential anxiety as well as people seeking deeper self-understanding and meaningful growth. Many of my clients come looking for ways to process difficult experiences, explore relationships creatively, or develop resilience in the face of challenges. My approach is deeply shaped by my own experiences growing up in Cambodia. As my parents taught me and my siblings: “It is not the world of survival of the fittest, but the world where you always need to be a little kinder than necessary.” Like many Cambodian families, ours lived through the aftermath of the Khmer Rouge, facing loss, suffering, and hardship. Yet my parents always found ways to give, even when resources were scarce. Their example of kindness and generosity became a core teaching in my life, and it now guides my work as a therapist. Practicing kindness, compassion ,deep listening, presence, cultural humility, and sensitivity is central to how I support clients. I believe most of us are doing the best we can, and when we cannot see that in ourselves or others, life becomes more difficult. Therapy becomes a place where people can engage with themselves fully, let go of self-judgment, and cultivate self-compassion.

Hi, I’m George. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University—but more importantly, I’m someone who genuinely enjoys helping people feel more understood, less overwhelmed, and more in control of their lives. I’ve been working in the mental health field since 2017, and my journey has taken me through a wide range of settings—from private practice to Full Service Partnership (FSP), Assertive Outreach Team (AOT), transitional housing, and community health clinics. Each space has shaped the way I show up as a therapist: grounded, compassionate, and always focused on meeting people where they’re at. I bring clinical experience, sure-but I also bring a very human approach. Therapy with me isn't about hierarchy or diagnoses. It's collaborative space where you can talk about the hard stuff without judgement, explore what's working (and what's not), and start building a life that feels more aligned and sustainable. In my personal time, I enjoy walking my dog, engaging in video games with my stepson, and immersing myself in the world of sports. Additionally, I am an enthusiastic fan of Lego, Star Wars, and Disney. I look forward to the opportunity to work together and support you on your journey toward positive change.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in California. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What happens during the first therapy session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal!
