I spent the a decade working in the addiction treatment industry. Working in that industry opened my eyes to the need for adequate trauma treatment so I became trained as an EMDR practitioner. In studying mind- body approaches to trauma, such as EMDR, I learned about the effectiveness of Eastern Practices such as Yoga, Tai Chi and Meditation in treating a range of psychological challenges.Personally experiencing the benefits of a mindfulness practice led me to obtain formal training in the study of yoga, Tai Chi and mediation so I could bring those benefits to my clients as well. Currently, I specialize in treating a wide range of psychological challenges using integrative approaches such as mindfulness based and trauma informed approaches.
My approach the therapy is interactive, humanistic/client centered, trauma informed, mindfulness based and individually tailored to each client's specific needs. I place a great deal of importance building rapport and a strong working relationships because I believe that it is the relationship that provides the avenue for true healing to occur. Clients can expect the session to be interactive, conversational, playful and at times challenging.
I have been described as empathic, non judgmental, honest, supportive, understanding and challenging. Some previous clients have described sessions as feeling comfortable like they are speaking with a close friends. Other clients have appreciated the interactive engagement of the session and the honest feedback they receive. Many of my clients stay with me for years.
I best serve clients looking to actively engage in therapy and in their own personal growth and development. I best serve clients who are receptive to feedback and open minded to therapeutic interventions. I am best positioned to serve clients who struggle with trauma, anxiety, addiction or codependency in their families/relationships. I am an ideal match for clients who are interested in mindfulness based practices and incorporating Eastern philosophical/spiritual tenets into their growth work.
I use a combination of mindfulness based and trauma informed care supported by my studies of Eastern philosophy and practices.
