Hi, I’m Cynthia. These are tough times, and many people are struggling. If you’re anxious, down, or facing life transitions or relationship issues, I’ll help you process it all, build coping strategies, and move toward the life you want. As a first-gen Latina, I understand issues around cultural identity, bias and assimilation. I don’t specialize in eating disorders, trauma, autism or substance use.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, you'll have space to talk about what's most important to you. First I’ll explain my approach and background, and essentials around confidentiality, privacy, and logistics so you feel comfortable moving forward. Then we’ll begin exploring what brings you here, and collaborate on a plan that feels supportive, doable, and aligned with your goals.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I've seen a lot and done a lot--I'm not a kid! I'm also real, and I speak with thoughtfulness, kindness, humor, and candor. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable sharing anything, and clients often tell me they appreciate the sense of ease and support that comes from working together. I've lived in different states and in Europe. I've done different kinds of work and lived in big cities, small rural towns, and in between. I can relate to many different kinds of folks in different situations.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with adults of all ages and genders. I have a special focus on supporting women during major life transitions—whether entering adulthood, navigating career and relationship changes, or moving into middle and older stages of life. I also enjoy working with people who are first-or-second generation, as I understand the unique challenges we face.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

What I like most about being DBT-informed is the idea that there are skills--that no one is born with, but we can hone--to improve how we approach relationships and communication, better handle stress and crises, and be more mindful of ourselves and our environments.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Many of us have struggled with habitual, negative and unhelpful thoughts and beliefs about ourselves, others, or the world. Identifying them and changing them, when appropriate, can really change how we feel and operate.

Psychodynamic

We're all affected by our backgrounds. Exploring how our past experiences continue to influence us (consciously and not) can have major impacts on how we feel and function.

Humanistic

We'll explore your strengths and values, what's working in your life, and how to build on those things to continue to grow and feel more fulfilled.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I'm a first-generation LatinX woman. I know what it's like to straddle cultures, try to live the American dream; be the first in the family to go to college. I'm an ally to all races, ages, ethnicities, and genders.
