I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with the Board of Behavioral Sciences in California . I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology (M.Ed.) from OISE, University of Toronto. I work primarily from a client-centered model and my therapeutic approach is eclectic, which means depending on the individual needs of my clients, I incorporate elements and therapy tools from various approaches like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Mindfulness based psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, etc. Above all, I emphasize the importance of a strong and compassionate therapeutic relationship. My approach to therapy involves a balance between helping a client explore past experiences and identifying how these experiences may be affecting them in the present. I often use culturally sensitive tools in my practice while working closely with my clients. I work from within an anti-oppressive and anti-racist framework. Clients come to see me for help with Anxiety, Stress, Depression, Self-esteem issues, Grief & loss, Isolation & loneliness, Trauma, Family & relationship issues, Sexual orientation worries, Gender identity concerns, LGBTQ counseling, etc. The sessions are currently held via video calls and are offered in English, Hindi, Malayalam or Tamil.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will be dedicated to getting to know each other and understand where you are in your journey and we explore the different ways we could approach the concerns you may be bringing to our future sessions. This session will also help you understand the way I work with my clients, help them set goals for our future sessions, etc.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

For me the greatest attributes are being a good listener, holding each client in unconditional regard, and being respectful of each clients's process. The safe, supportive and nonjudgmental space that I provide for my clients has been something all my clients have really cherished and in turn has helped them achieve their therapeutic goals.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT helps you become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so you can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way. CBT usually takes place over a limited number of sessions. Using a question-and-answer format, your therapist helps you gain a different perspective. As a result, you learn to respond better to stress, pain and difficult situations. CBT can be used alone or along with medication and other therapies.

Attachment-based

Attachment-based therapy is an approach to therapy that specifically targets those thoughts, feelings, communications, behaviors, and interpersonal exchanges that patients have learned either to suppress and avoid or to amplify and overemphasize because of early attachment experiences.

Narrative

Narrative therapists help their clients put together their narrative. This process allows the individual to find their voice and explore events in their lives and the meanings they have placed on these experiences

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Culturally sensitive therapy is an approach to psychotherapy that emphasizes the therapist's understanding of a client's background and belief system as it relates to their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, or other important elements that make up someone's culture and/or identity

Eclectic

Eclectic Therapy is a therapy approach that draws the most relevant techniques from other evidence-based therapy modalities together for an effective, individualized treatment plan. Eclectic Therapists value the fact that each client is unique and has unique needs in therapy.
