Hello and welcome to my practice! I’m Deara (pronounced d-air-ruh), and I have many years of experience as a Social Worker in various roles. I hold two degrees in Social Work: a Master’s from Springfield College in Massachusetts and a Bachelor’s from Central Connecticut State University. With eight years in the field, I am dedicated to helping children, families, and individuals overcome the barriers they face. My primary focus is to create a relaxed and non-judgmental environment where we can work together collaboratively to achieve your goals.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our initial sessions, we will focus on building rapport, exploring your reasons for seeking therapy, and determining if we are a good fit for each other. I believe that for therapy to flourish, a strong connection is essential. This process is not an interview; rather, it’s a conversation rooted in curiosity and a safe space for healing.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my greatest strengths as a provider lie in my ability to foster connection, maintain accountability, and motivate my clients effectively.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am passionate about working with individuals and families who are ready for change in their lives. My clients appreciate a therapist with whom they can be their authentic selves, knowing that their feelings and experiences will not affect the level of care they receive. Many come to me eager to gain the tools they need to move forward, often feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or anxious about certain aspects of their lives. With my support, they find reassurance and a collaborative partnership that empowers them to navigate their challenges with confidence.

My treatment methods

Supportive

Through supportive therapy, I provide my clients with a nonjudgmental and safe space to discuss their concerns. This approach is less structured, allowing us to focus on their immediate challenges while offering the support they need.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy in which I collaborate with my clients to identify and challenge unhealthy patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. In this approach, I often assign take-home exercises that we can discuss in our sessions, enhancing the therapeutic process.

Psychoeducation

I offer my clients educational resources to help them better understand their situations, and together we develop a tailored action plan when needed.
