I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 15 years of experience supporting children, parents, and families across developmental, medical, behavioral, and justice-involved systems. My work is grounded in child development, early intervention, and family-centered care, with a strong focus on helping caregivers better understand their child’s emotional and developmental needs. I specialize in working with new parents, caregivers, and family members navigating stress, life transitions, and complex family dynamics. I also support relatives and loved ones of formerly incarcerated individuals, helping families manage reintegration challenges, emotional stress, and relationship changes. My approach is compassionate, structured, and collaborative. I use evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy, while always considering developmental stages, family systems, and cultural context. Bilingual services available in English and Spanish.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, we will focus on getting to know each other and setting a strong foundation for therapy. I’ll review important information such as informed consent, limits of confidentiality, and how online therapy works, so you can feel comfortable and informed about the process. We’ll also discuss what brought you to therapy, your current concerns, and what you hope to gain from our work together. This session is a collaborative conversation—there is no pressure to share more than you’re ready for. Together, we’ll begin identifying your main goals for therapy and what success might look like for you. My aim for the first session is to create a safe, supportive, and respectful space where you feel heard, understood, and confident about moving forward.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strengths lie in my ability to provide calm, structured, and compassionate care in complex and high-stress situations. With extensive experience working in correctional settings, healthcare environments, and with families navigating significant challenges, I bring a grounded and practical approach to therapy that helps clients feel safe, understood, and supported without judgment. I am skilled in conducting thorough mental health and psychosocial assessments and translating those insights into clear, realistic treatment goals. My work is informed by evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and behavioral interventions, allowing me to tailor treatment to each client’s needs while keeping therapy goal-oriented and effective. What often stands out to clients is my ability to balance empathy with clarity and direction. I help clients build practical coping skills, strengthen emotional regulation, and develop confidence in navigating life’s challenges. My diverse background—spanning justice-involved populations, medical settings, and developmental and family systems—allows me to meet clients where they are and support meaningful, sustainable change.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
• New parents and caregivers adjusting to early parenthood • Parents and relatives raising young children who want guidance around behavior, emotional regulation, and routines • Family members of formerly incarcerated individuals navigating reintegration, boundaries, and family stress • Adults experiencing anxiety, stress, life transitions, or family-related challenges • Spanish-speaking families seeking culturally responsive care. Clients often value my calm, structured style and my understanding of child development, family systems, and complex institutions such as schools, healthcare, and the justice system. My ideal clients are adults who are seeking meaningful change, stability, and practical support as they navigate life challenges. I am especially well-positioned to work with individuals experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and those working toward recovery or reintegration after difficult experiences. Many of my clients value a therapist who is structured, supportive, and collaborative, and who understands complex systems such as the justice system, healthcare settings, and community resources. They may be looking to build coping skills, improve emotional regulation, strengthen decision-making, or develop healthier patterns to support long-term well-being. I am a good fit for clients who appreciate an evidence-based, strengths-focused approach, and who want therapy to feel practical, respectful, and goal-oriented. My clients often share a desire to feel understood without judgment, to focus on solutions, and to move forward with greater confidence and resilience.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based, goal-oriented approach that helps clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By identifying and changing unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors, CBT supports clients in developing practical skills to reduce distress and improve daily functioning.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Solution-Focused Therapy (also known as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy) is an evidence-based, goal-oriented approach that helps clients build on their strengths and existing resources to create practical solutions for current concerns. Rather than focusing on problems or the past, therapy emphasizes collaboration, hope, and small, achievable steps toward meaningful change.
Psychoeducation
I integrate psychoeducation in my work with children, caregivers, families, and adults to help clients understand emotions, behaviors, and mental health experiences in a practical and trauma-informed way. My approach is informed by parent-child and family-based therapy as well as my experience as an LCSW in a correctional facility since 2017, with an emphasis on insight, emotional regulation, skill-building, and real-life application.
Child Parent Psychotherapy
I utilize Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), an evidence-based, trauma-informed treatment designed for young children (birth to age 5) and their caregivers. CPP focuses on strengthening the parent-child relationship as a primary pathway for healing, emotional regulation, and healthy development—especially following trauma or significant stress. In my work with CPP, I support caregivers and children together by creating a safe, nurturing therapeutic space where emotions, behaviors, and past experiences can be explored and understood. I help caregivers make sense of their child’s behaviors through an attachment and trauma-informed lens, while also supporting caregivers in understanding their own emotional responses and stress. My approach to CPP is collaborative, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate. Sessions often include play-based interactions, reflection, and gentle guidance to promote emotional safety, co-regulation, and stronger connection. I focus on helping caregivers respond with sensitivity, consistency, and confidence, allowing the child to feel seen, supported, and secure. CPP is especially helpful for families impacted by trauma, loss, family stress, or changes that may affect a child’s emotional or behavioral functioning. My goal is to help children and caregivers heal together, strengthen their bond, and build a foundation for long-term emotional well-being.
