Many people come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve them - whether that's anxiety, relationship struggles, substance use, or a lingering sense they've lost connection with who they truly are. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who works with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, relationship patterns, substance use concerns, life transitions, and questions of identity. I specialize in supporting clients experiencing substance use disorders, co-dependency, co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns, anxiety, depression, stress, relational patterns, shame, people-pleasing, identity exploration and rebuilding a healthy relationship with self, and religious or spiritual trauma. Many of my clients are working to untangle harmful patterns, rebuild trust with themselves, and create healthier relationships. I have particular interest in supporting individuals unpacking harmful religious experiences or high-control faith environments. Many clients I work with are navigating questions of identity, autonomy, and personal values after feeling pressure to conform to rigid belief systems. Many of the clients I work with are learning to trust their own voice again after years of feeling pressure to meet others' expectations. I understand how deeply faith, identity, family, and community can be intertwined, and I approach this work with care and respect for each person's unique journey. My approach is collaborative and strengths-based. I believe therapy is not a "one-size-fits all" experience, and I tailor the process to each client's needs, values and goals. Seeking greater serenity in your life takes courage. Therapy can be a space to slow down, gain insight, and reconnect with parts of yourself that may have been overlooked or silenced along the way. You deserve support as you move toward a life that feels more grounded, authentic, and aligned with who you truly are. I would be honored to walk alongside you in that process.

I am the mother to 2 grown children and a grandmother. I was married for over 40 years prior to my husband passing, I now share my house with a Golden Retriever. I went back to school later in life, and like to encourage others to do the same if possible. My first experience in this field came when I got a job at a county mental health/developmental services program as a receptionist. I was motivated by all the great work that the caseworkers were doing to improve their clients lives. I went back to school to finish my Bachelors and finally received a Masters in Social work. I retired from the county program as a Casework Supervisor, I felt that my position was becoming more administrative, and I was missing the connections I had made with my clients. At that time I felt it was time to work on what my original goal was which was to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I did work for 5 years with children with behavioral issues in school and in their homes. My previous position was in a small practice in rural PA, where I learned the importance of being eclectic in my treatment approach because every clent and their situation is different , and they deserve to have a treatment plan specifically targeted to their situation

I’ve been working with individuals for nearly 20 years, and if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s this: none of us are meant to do this alone. Sitting one-on-one with someone as they untangle their story is work I don’t take lightly. It’s an honor. Over the years, I’ve supported people through burnout, transitions, grief, relationship shifts, identity questions, and those quieter seasons where you just know something needs to change, even if you can’t name it yet. I also have advanced training in trauma and ADHD, which means I understand how deeply our nervous systems, past experiences, and unique wiring shape the way we move through the world. Whether you’re navigating the impact of trauma or trying to make sense of an ADHD brain in a world that doesn’t always accommodate it, we’ll approach your work with both compassion and practical insight. Individual therapy is powerful. There is something sacred about having a space that is entirely yours — where you don’t have to perform, hold it together, or take care of anyone else. I also believe people need people and that is why I lead women's groups and retreats as well. At the heart of my work is the belief that we’re all just trying to get home — home to ourselves. Home to steadiness, clarity, belonging, and alignment. My role is to walk alongside you as you reconnect with that place inside you that already knows the way.

"Welcome. I'm Jeanette DeSilva, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), with 16 years dedicated to walking alongside individuals on their journey to lasting freedom from issues such as anxiety and depression, destructive behaviors and addiction or those who are just wanting help developing a deeper spiritual life and rebuild their relationship with God. In our work together, I integrate the evidence-based principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The core idea of CBT is that our thoughts significantly influence our feelings and behaviors. Together we'll work collaboratively to identify and re-frame unhelpful thought patterns, belief systems and behaviors that contribute to mental health struggles, poor self-image, relationship issues, grief and loss and destructive behaviors like unhealthy coping. My goal is to equip you with practical and therapeutic skills and strategies to navigate the challenges of mental health disturbances, addiction issues or just difficult life struggles you may currently be facing. If spirituality is an important aspect of your life and you are wanting it a part of your therapeutic process, as a Christian Counselor I am skilled in utilizing biblical principles such as scripture, prayer and meditation into proven therapeutic approaches to help in building a strong arsenal to overcome and resolve life's challenges and walk in complete healing and freedom. Science and faith can truly work together. We will focus on: Addressing mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and interpersonal/relational conflict resolution. I am also extensively experienced in substance abuse and addictions. Identifying and Resolving Destructive Behaviors: Addressing any unwanted behaviors such as substance abuse, self-medicating behaviors or just cycles and patterns of critical inner dialogue and destructive core beliefs blocking your growth. I support individuals struggling with anxiety, anger, and fear. Especially those who feel overwhelmed, on edge, or quick to react but don’t fully understand why. Many of my clients are used to holding everything together for others: parents, caregivers, first responders, high stress professionals and often feel like there’s no space for their own emotions. Together, we focus on understanding triggers, building practical coping skills, and learning how to respond instead of react...so you can feel more in control, steady, and clear in your daily life. And yes, I give “homework” between sessions so growth continues outside our time together. My work as a clinician is grounded in compassion and a deeply person-centered approach. I believe healing happens when people feel genuinely understood and accepted, so I strive to create a space where clients feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow at their own pace. Compassion guides how I listen, how I respond, and how I tailor therapy to each unique child and family, ensuring that the counseling process feels gentle, respectful, and attuned to their needs. When working with children, I primarily use mindfulness-based play therapy. Play is a natural form of communication for children, allowing them to express emotions, explore relationships, and process challenges in a developmentally appropriate way. By integrating mindfulness practices, I help children become more aware of their thoughts and feelings, regulate their bodies, and develop self-compassion. This blend helps them build emotional resilience and fosters a deeper connection with themselves. Although most of the work occurs individually with the child, I incorporate family therapy sessions when they can meaningfully support the child’s progress. These sessions are not the main focus of treatment, but a valuable addition that strengthens communication, builds understanding, and helps families create more mindful and supportive environments at home. My goal is to guide families with compassion, helping them recognize patterns and learn ways to nurture their child’s growth. I also draw from contextual therapy, which helps me understand each client within the larger systems and relationships that influence their daily life. Approaching these dynamics with empathy and curiosity allows me to support clients and families in healing relational wounds and building healthier, more balanced connections. Across all modalities, compassion remains at the heart of my work. I aim to meet every person with warmth and respect, creating a healing experience that honors their story and supports meaningful, lasting change.

Hello! My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, compassionate space where you can process your experiences, deepen your understanding of yourself, and explore areas where healing is needed. I take a person-centered approach, meaning you lead the way in your journey while I follow—offering guidance, support, and tools as needed. I offer EMDR, IFS, CBT, and other modalities, tailoring our work to what feels most helpful and empowering for you. I also place a strong emphasis on connecting the mind and body, as many of us experience a disconnect between the two. For those who are interested, I incorporate elements of energy therapy—drawing on yogic principles, Usui Reiki, and other approaches—to support your healing process. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and experiences, and I offer specific support for those seeking culturally sensitive therapy, honoring your unique story and identity throughout our work together. Hello, and welcome! My name is Amber Stewart, and I’m a licensed professional counselor (LPC) out of Western Pennsylvania; I'm also licensed in Wisconsin. I specialize in anxiety, self-esteem, depression, and trauma. I want to help you go from just tolerating the symptoms of your anxiety, depression, or trauma to living fully in the present and having a healthy relationship with yourself. You deserve to live the life you envision for yourself, and I want to help you do that by exploring the areas you’re struggling with, teaching you ways to cope, and reducing the impact that these symptoms have on your life by addressing them at their core. I believe that underlying most (if not all) mental health concerns is some kind of trauma – and, there are many studies that support my belief that trauma is connected to depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. I invite you to learn more about my approaches to therapy, trauma, and trauma therapy by visiting my website: (www.everystepforward.com). And, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.

I have worked in mental health for over 20 years. I received my BA in Psychology in 1994 and my Masters in Social Work in 1997. Since then, I have worked in various settings including the Behavioral Health System of Philadelphia, numerous behavioral health facilities which include psychiatric units, detox and rehabs, college counseling settings and in assisted living/nursing facilities with older adults. In 2013, I started an in person private practice and then made the jump to telehealth during the pandemic. I find that telehealth is much more accessible and convenient for clients as we are still able to do amazing work together! Do you ever feel stuck? Do you feel like nobody understands what you are going through? Do you feel like you have burdened friends and family with your worries even though you know they love you? Do you feel like you have the answers but nobody around you is listening? You do not have to have a major mental health diagnosis to go to therapy. You may be going through a life transition or having trouble communicating with others. You might be surrounded by others with deeper issues which is affecting your mental health. Or you might be suffering from anxiety, depression or past unresolved trauma. You might have disordered eating, obsessive-compulsive tendencies or an urge to use alcohol or drugs to self-medicate your pain. You might be coping in ways that aren’t healthy but that is how you learned to cope. I can help you navigate whatever place you are in and help to elevate you to a healthier space where you feel happier and more in tune with yourself. There are numerous reasons why people come to therapy. Just know that with me, you will be in a judgement free zone and I will utilize my many years of experience to assist you to getting to a better place. I work with anyone over 16 years old. I have specialized experience working with college aged clients and the older adult population. I have a long history of working with those from the LGBTQIA+ population as well. I look forward to meeting and connecting with you!

Search therapists by insurance

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Pennsylvania rather than a city like Philadelphia?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Pennsylvania. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Pennsylvania from Pittsburgh to Scranton! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Pennsylvania.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Women's Issues?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Women's Issues, is filtering therapists in Pennsylvania that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What happens during the first therapy session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
