I am Nancy Malwitz, a Licensed Professional Counselor and I am always looking for ways to help others achieve their goals for growth and resolution of problematic issues in their lives. I spent many years working as a retail manager and learned many things about human behaviors and how to resolve conflict and help mentor and teach others about many life experiences that they may have. I approach issues and concerns with directness and open-minded, outside of the box thinking in order to help those who are seeking guidance for the concerns they have about their lives. I feel that often people have the capacity to find solutions that are good for their journey and to be able to make connections that enhance those capabilities in their own lives. I am someone who can come alongside you in helping find those pathways and answers to the questions that you may have about your own life, due to the journey that I have taken in my own experiences and life lived.

I'm Ben Northrup, a licensed professional counselor with a passion for helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with strength and self-compassion. I specialize in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychosis treatment, helping family members of individuals with symptoms of psychosis, and support for anxiety and depression. I earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Lock Haven University and have worked in a range of clinical settings—including group homes, partial hospitalization programs, women’s centers, and community-based mental health. These experiences have shaped my client-centered, practical, and empathetic approach to therapy. Therapy sessions with me tend to feel more casual in nature and use everyday language (no psychological jargon). While therapy is a serious matter and we will talk about serious subjects, it should never be a time that either of us dread. I believe in taking time to learn about, or help you discover, hobbies and parts of life that you enjoy. I take time to help you develop more personalized coping skills and problem solve using your strengths. So, whether you're feeling overwhelmed, seeking tools to manage emotions, or navigating complex mental health challenges, I'm here to support you in creating meaningful, lasting change.

You’ve got a lot going on. There are so many demands pulling you in every direction that it can feel impossible to find peace and show up as the best parent, partner, and employee you can be. And, while settling into the same routine has gotten you this far, it’s stopped being sustainable and has started to feel like a strain. If this sounds like you, I’m pleased to be a support for you and your family. I’m Shiloh Johnson. My professional passion is aiding individuals, couples, and families address conflict, open lines of communication, and build better bonds. I had a spiritual calling towards counseling, and seeing my clients reach their goals and grow as people is exactly what God put on my heart to help fulfill. In our sessions, you can expect a blend of evidence-based practices and a warm, person-centered approach to help you find harmony in difficult circumstances. I see a wide range of clients, with many types of presenting problems. I enjoy treating families, especially those with blended family issues, adults struggling with autism, mood disorders, or BPD, and those seeking general guidance. While I’m not currently a fit for those in active addiction or recovery, I am able to support loved ones in navigating this complex relationship. When not in session, I workout, play my guitar, and do home improvement projects. I currently have no openings for "in person" sessions.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Pennsylvania rather than a city like Philadelphia?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Pennsylvania. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Pennsylvania from Pittsburgh to Scranton! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Pennsylvania.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Bipolar Disorder?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Bipolar Disorder, is filtering therapists in Pennsylvania that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
