I am a Licensed Professional Counselor licensed in Pennsylvania. I have experience working in the field of mental health and behavioral health since 2003. I have worked with individuals with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, addiction issues, and other mental health/behavioral health issues. I also helped people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse. I consider myself an eclectic psychotherapist. I believe that no one individual is the same as another, therefore treatment should be personalized. Based on where the individual is at and their goals for life and goals for therapy will determine what technique I will use. Techniques may change from session to session. Some techniques I use include, but not limited to, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Reality Therapy. People seek therapy for a variety of reasons and seek therapy at different stages in their lives. My therapeutic approach begins with meeting the individual where he/she is currently. Each person and their situation are unique which is why I am a strong believer that person centered is the best approach as therapy is not one size fits all. I value developing a therapeutic relationship with each individual that I provide services. My goal is to allow the individual to feel comfortable in each session as a result of me offering respect and empathy, being able to accept, and being genuine and authentic. In return I ask that each person is committed to the process and honest throughout. Taking the steps to seek therapy is the first step to seeking change. If you’re ready to take that step, I am here to guide and support you.

Hello! I have always enjoyed helping others for as long as I can remember as early as age 9. I love to see their responses in the learning process. I have experienced trauma, witnessed violence, anxiety, have been in an unhealthy alcoholic relationship and have been a sensitive being my entire life not understanding why. My saving Grace has always been movement. I loved the way it made me feel-free and calm, and movement has always been part of my life even during 4 pregnancies and keeping up with my 4 children, and now my grandchildren. Over time, I was introduced to mindfulness, stress reduction and relaxation (which I didn’t realized how much I needed) and Yoga. This allowed me to calm my mind and focus. My career goal was Physical Education teaching and when I graduated (after have 4 children), teacher jobs were scarce. I was introduced to Behavioral Health and here I am now, 25 years later.

These difficulties along with other related topics that may surface during a therapy session. My therapy approach is quite straightforward, collaborative, and non-judgmental. It's structured to help you develop a healthier and happier life. We begin by identifying the circumstances that prompted you to seek therapy. Then I help you to develop skills and solutions tailored for you to help you move forward toward that healthier life. It's a collaborative approach. You and I work together through this process. From this perspective, listening is the most-important part of communication. When I genuinely listen to your experiences and concerns without judgment or distraction, I can respond appropriately to your concerns. "Right Speech begins with Right Listening." Hi there and welcome! I’m Beth and I'm glad that you are here and have taken the first step towards self-care. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in PA. Maybe you've reached a point in your life where you have lost your motivation and your emotions seem to have gotten the best of you; perhaps you have a child who you are deeply concerned for. Whatever the issues may be, EVERYONE deserves to live to life that's meaningful. I strive to create a safe space where individuals can face their challenges head-on, become empowered, and regain a sense of security so they can begin living their best lives. I am a highly sensitive person (HSP), who is extremely empathic toward others. If you want to know more about HSP, just ask! I am a very down to earth person who has her own struggles just like everyone else. I have two wonderful children, a son who recently got married and a daughter who is currently in college. Between them and my husband, we all take turns driving each other crazy! I have a serious chocolate addiction and my family must hide it from me if it is in my house! If I am not eating chocolate, I am probably watching ID Discovery as I am obsessed with crime shows! I also love being outdoors in nature, as it tends to keep me balanced. The majority of strategies and tools that I offer my clients, have been implemented in my own personal life at some point. I believe that my life experience as a therapist, educator, mother, wife, daughter and friend have provided me with the qualifications to be a relatable ally for my clients. I spent the first 20 years of my career as a school teacher in Philadelphia, mostly with the younger grades, where I was privy to numerous situations occurring in their homes including all types of abuse and neglect. Sadly, the education system had very little interest in addressing the mental health issues these children were faced with. Instead, the district’s focus was solely on standardized testing and getting students to be on or above grade level in all academic areas. So, I did what I could, academically, and spent the rest of the day providing mental health support and a safe space for these kids who so desperately needed it. I came to realize that my calling was to provide support for those with emotional needs. I resigned and begin graduate school for mental health counseling.

Fulfilling our potential is a lifelong journey of becoming more at peace with ourselves, deepening the intimacy in our relationships, being more authentically human, and feeling more alive each day. Along the way, certain challenges arise to cause us distress or confusion. Such moments can make us feel held back, afraid, or unsure of where to go from here. But these moments can also be the points of growth and healing from which we renew ourselves in ways we did not think possible. It is a great privilege helping men and women in their search to improve their relationship with themselves and others, to lessen the burden of emotional pain, to experience freedom from addictions, or to embark on new life challenges - to find the hope and courage needed to take those important next steps.

I believe that everyone is doing their best at any given time and are motivated to be the best version of themselves possible, although that does not mean that we always know how to get there. Having a therapeutic relationship with a trusted therapist can provide a safe place to process difficult emotions, help identify patterns of thinking and behavior that no longer serve us, or outline goals for the future and develop a plan of action. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). My education includes a Bachelor of Science from Penn State University, a Master of Education in School Counseling from West Chester University, and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Trauma and Resilience from Wilmington University. I have clinical experience ranging from field experience working with children and adolescents within a school setting to 7 years of experience working with adults in substance use treatment programs and their family members. My current role as a psychotherapist working with adults on a primarily individual basis to cope with life’s challenges is where I find tremendous fulfillment and compatibility. These diverse experiences have allowed me to develop a passion for working with people to improve their ability to cope with life’s many challenges, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, trauma, grief and loss, substance use, codependency, and family or relationship struggles. I specialize in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Relapse Prevention, Solution-Focused Therapy and Psychoeducation to develop an approach that is individualized for every client.

Hello, my name is David and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with licenses in Pennsylvania and Texas. I have worked in the field for about 10 years, and typically see a handful of clients in a small private practice. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, working with my hands, and other hobbies. I believe strongly in the promise of mental health counseling, but understand that traditional therapy doesn't always feel like a good fit for everyone. Therefore I try to be open minded and creative in my approach to counseling, and incorporate a variety of theories and interventions.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Pennsylvania rather than a city like Philadelphia?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Pennsylvania from Pittsburgh to Scranton! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Pennsylvania.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Anger Management?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Anger Management, is filtering therapists in Pennsylvania that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
