I take a holistic perspective with my clients to address the health of body, mind, and spirit. I believe that a solid therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is a crucial part of the healing process, and that techniques and therapy approaches must “fit” the client in order to be effective—there is no “one size fits all” therapy. My goal, as a counselor and therapist, is to deeply understand my client, and when this happens we are able to identify areas of life that need to be changed, and ways of going about doing that. Therapy is a collaborative process between a trained therapist and a client who wants to change.

Hi, I am Diane Smith, a licensed practicing counselor, in Pennsylvania. Congratulations for making the decision to do therapy. I have worked in clinical counseling psychology for 14 years. I love to help people achieve their goals. We all go through difficult times and I am trained to help people overcome obstacles. Together we can work on the issues that are holding you back. It doesn't matter if it's anxiety, depression, you're burned out, poor boundaries, OCD, addictions, relationship issues, grief, and loss you name it we can handle it. You deserve to live your best life. If you are new to therapy don't worry. It's like talking to a good friend who is legally bound to not share a word you say. There are 3 reasons when I am legally bound to report, since I am a mandated reporter, 1. You threaten to kill the president 2. You threaten to harm yourself. 3. You threaten to harm someone else. Also, you won't be judged for anything you tell me. People do what they do for many reasons. Most of my clients say that I am very easy to talk to and that they feel safe sharing with me. I hope that you give me a shot! I look forward to going on a journey with you. FYI*** Please give 24 hours advanced notice if you can not attend an appointment or you will be charged $50.00 Also, If you do not show up for an appointment you will be charged $50.00 as well. I only get my hourly fee if I meet with the client for the allotted time. If the client does not show I don't get paid. Thanks for your time, Diane Smith

I love what I do as a Licensed Clinical Therapist. To me, there's no better job than showing people how to use their minds to work for them instead of against them by getting past their mental blocks and past traumas so they don't have to suffer any longer. Specifically, I work with two groups - couples and parents. Couples that aren't communicating very well that have lost that once special connection with their partner and parents struggling with their children's behaviors.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with many years of experience helping people, mostly adults. I love helping people. It is such a privilege to participate in your care. I am the 'original' judgement free zone (before that other company chose that phrase; you know the one). I am a mid-westerner, and bring my midwestern sensibilities to my approach. Our relationship is collaborative and supportive. I encourage you to be an active participant in understanding yourself better from the inside out, your triggers, strengths, and past successes; to develop and strengthen your inner resources; I am creative in my thinking, and encourage you to consider the same: reading books, creating affirmations, drawing, etc.. Patience is required (of which I have much), while I serve as a container for unpacking and exploring your thoughts, feelings, beliefs and life experiences which are interfering with your growth. I do not choose your goals or make decisions for you as I cannot live your life for you. When I am not working, I enjoy knitting. "We do not harvest our inner crop on the same day we plant the seed"

I have 31 years of experience providing counseling. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, stressing that what we think determines what we feel and what we do. For many reasons, people learn unrealistic or destructive thoughts that cause them problems in their lives. Therapy works towards more realistic thinking, and avoiding old and destructive thinking. As I like to say, "therapy is a conversation with a destination," and realistic thinking is that destination. While I am a Christian, I am not trained as a Christian Counselor. I am a "Counselor who is a Christian." My training is secular, and I regularly see people or all faiths, or none at all. I do not offer court ordered services, nor do I do assessments for custody, or any other legal purpose. Unfortunately, I cannot accept Medicare, or Medicare based plans. The world is changing, and more and more people are reaching out. I am seeing more men that have been in abusive relationships. There are also more people dealing with loss. Coming to my office is not like going to a big mental health clinic where you just another number on a spreadsheet. In my care, you are a person, and you'll be treated like one.

Seeking counseling can be a overwhelming and anxiety producing experience beyond "the why" of what brought you here. Building a relationship of trust to be vulnerable with a complete stranger is one of the hardest things we can do as humans. Chronic stress from past experiences and intergenerational trauma/stress are often hidden or very present parts of ourselves often creating a tangled web of connection within and attachments with others. In partnership with my clients, I assist them in emerging from within themselves with an increased positive connections, self image, self forgiveness, and a focus on their life goals. When we work together the aim is to assist you in finding balance, clarity and focus for your life goals through a lens of healing.

My passion is working with children, teenagers, young adults, couples and families to process trauma and difficult experiences so they can experience growth and healing within themselves and their relationships. Through my work with individuals and family's I have learned the deep importance of understanding "what has happened" to people rather than viewing people through the lens of "what is wrong with people". Likewise, the importance of understanding one's family of origin and how this shapes our views of people and the world and impacts how we relate with people and navigate our world. You are taking time to read all this content as you might be trying to find help to manage your stress, anxiety, depression or trauma and thinking about who to turn to. Sometimes, you may be looking for someone to offer you choices, clarify issues or provide guidance to lead you on your way. During that time i attended the Gestalt Institute in Cleveland, Ohio where I took 4 years of intense training. This lead me to find that therapy is not a method for me to figure out the client but a means for the client to gain greater self-awareness in facing their own life aspirations and struggles. I place focus on clients’ somatic awareness, especially breath, so being more in their body so they can try on new physical and intellectual styles in facing their world. I have a lot of knowledge about what is called the 12 step process and have melded together spirituality and religion in my own life. I listen to you to facilitate your listening to yourself. Let's talk and I'll explain. I work exclusively with people in their 20s and 30s who are discovering and creating their direction in life. Please disregard below, Age Groups (18 - 64) as this how the system is programmed and lacks your desire to grow and change! I understand the overarching goal of psychotherapy as strengthening the capacity for choice - of being in charge of your relationship with your thoughts, feelings and how you show up in the world. Your subjective experience of daily life is our territory. I’ve internalized ethics and theories so that I’m able to be present with you, your voice, your intonation, your expression. I've had scads of post-graduate education and continue to be an active learner. Please note: I charge $175 for appointments canceled within a 24hour window of the appointment; however, Monday appointments must be canceled by 5pm, Thursday. Let’s lean in; the way out is through.

Sometimes, life gets a bit overwhelming and we lose sight of our path. Occasionally, our path becomes clouded with anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, eating disorders, trauma, etc. While walking our path through life, therapy can provide a nonjudgmental space to vent, problem-solve, and seek coping tools. I would like to be that person for you. We will work together to set attainable goals and learn coping skills to help us on our journey through life. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor utilizing a combination of Cognitive Behavior Therapy and person-centered practices, among others. I assist a wide range of ages, from adults to teens. The main emphasis is finding solutions to better regulate their emotions, language, belief systems, and perceptions of life challenges.

I work with Clients (14-105 years of age) who would like to explore areas outside of their comfort zone, learn new coping skills, or just need a neutral person in their life. I work with students, teachers, medical professionals, and first responders/military as well those with family issues/divorce, custody issues, and non-traditional families. Mental health is complicated and sometimes involves a clinical diagnosis, other times, counseling is self-exploration. I am open to all conversations and issues.

Welcome! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and have been providing counseling in a multitude of settings ranging from Residential, Hospitals and private practice for over the past 20 years. I have experience working with individuals struggling with negative self-talk, low self-esteem, mood instability, challenging irrational beliefs and anxiety/depression. The last 10 years, I have been working in a private practice setting with the primary diagnoses of anxiety/depression. I use the treatment modalities of client-centered approach, solution focused therapy as well as cognitive behavioral therapy.   Do you sometimes feel alone or sad? Find yourself thinking about things you want to do to feel better, but you just can't get yourself to get up and do them? Do you often worry about things that most likely will never happen or fear social situations? Let's face it, the struggles we face today can be very difficult, and everyone needs someone to talk to. I believe we all deserve a chance to feel our best and overcome life's challenges and that is what we will do together. As your therapist, I will work with you to reduce the stress that comes along with many of life's stressors and build a therapeutic trusting relationship. We will take those and turn them into positive changes that you will feel more secure within yourself.
