Hi there, I'm Kirsten! Do you miss being in control of your emotions? Do you struggle with racing thoughts or a lack of motivation? Ready to make yourself a priority again? I am here to help! As a Licensed therapist specializing in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), self esteem and trauma work, I can help you get back into the driver's seat of your emotional roller coaster called life. In addition, with my knowledge and experience of using the trauma recovery and empowerment model (TREM), I will be able to help you work through past experiences that are still a struggle today. I will use my tools as a certified dialectical behavior therapist to help guide you on problem solving skills. I want to provide a safe space for you to be your most authentic self. Life can be hard but you don't have to go through it alone. I love mixing different types of therapy tools including mindfulness, psycho-education, journaling techniques and much more! Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, self-confidence or life in general I will be able to provide evidence-based techniques for you to become the best version of yourself.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will work to get to know each other and set short term and long term goals

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I will be able to provide specific worksheets, activities, and therapy tools to address your short-term and long-term goals.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

working to be able to problem solve and implement skills for emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance and mindfulness

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Being able to reflect on our thinking and to be able to implement emotional regulation skills to be able to change behaviors. Our goal here is if we can change our thinking then we can change the way we react/behave.

Psychoeducation

Something I always say is, the more you know, the more you can be aware which is why I implement education behind techniques/skills that are suggested. This helps gain control over that feeling/emotion and provides you with knowledge, skills and resources to manage your mental health concerns.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I implement solution focused techniques as they focus on building solutions rather than analyzing problems. This allows you to use your strengths and resources to achieve positive change in your life.

Eclectic

I tend to use techniques from different types of theories. I believe everyone is different and want to make our sessions individualized to your experience and needs.
