(she/her)
Hi, I’m Mimi, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania. In my four years of experience, I’ve had the opportunity to work in outpatient behavioral health, substance use treatment centers, higher education, and private practice. These experiences have allowed me to support individuals from many different backgrounds and walks of life, and I especially enjoy working with middle adolescents, college students, and young to middle-aged adults. I’m also passionate about supporting individuals within the BIPOC community. Outside of my work, I enjoy reading, spending quality time with my family, and taking long walks with my dog. These moments help me stay grounded, present, and connected—qualities I also bring into the therapy space. I value balance and self-care, and I strive to model the same intentional living that I encourage in my clients.
During our first session, you can expect a welcoming and supportive space where you’re invited to share as much as you feel comfortable about your past experiences and current challenges. I’ll ask some questions to better understand what’s bringing you to therapy, as well as your personal, family, and emotional history. We’ll also spend time discussing your goals—what you hope to gain from therapy and what meaningful change looks like for you. This session is an opportunity for us to begin building a trusting relationship, clarify your needs, and create a plan that feels supportive and aligned with your growth.
What stands out most about my therapeutic approach is that it is rooted in person-centered care. I believe therapy works best when it’s a collaborative process—where you are not just receiving guidance, but actively participating in your own growth and healing. Your voice, experiences, and goals matter, and they guide the direction of our work together. I strive to create a space that feels authentic, supportive, and grounded. Clients often describe me as down-to-earth and approachable. My well-rounded professional experience allows me to meet you where you are, while also gently challenging you toward meaningful and lasting change.
I work best with teens (16+) and adults who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward. Many of my clients struggle with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, or major life transitions—such as starting college, career changes, relationship shifts, or identity development. You might be someone who: * Overthinks and feels anxious in social or performance situations * Experiences persistent sadness, low motivation, or mood swings * Feels pressure to meet expectations from family, school, or work * Struggles with peer relationships or setting healthy boundaries * Is navigating cultural identity, racial stress, or the unique experiences of being a person of color * Wants healthier coping skills but isn’t sure where to start I am especially passionate about supporting people of color and individuals navigating spaces where they may feel unseen, unheard, or misunderstood. Together, we create a space where your experiences are validated and your cultural background is respected and centered—not explained away. My clients are often insightful and self-aware but may feel emotionally exhausted. They are ready for change, even if they’re unsure what that change looks like yet. In our work together, we focus on building emotional awareness, strengthening coping strategies, improving relationships, and helping you feel more grounded and confident in your daily life. If you’re 16 or older and looking for a supportive, culturally responsive space to process, heal, and grow, we may be a great fit.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
We are often our own worst critics. There are also times when we think the worst about situations. These thoughts can lead to behavioral struggles, including isolation and avoidance. I use CBT practices to help clients recognize and challenge unhelpful thoughts and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress.
Trauma Informed Care
Whether you've experienced a single traumatic event, such as a terrible accident or loss of a loved one; or you've experienced ongoing trauma, including adverse childhood experiences, abuse, or racial trauma. I am here to help you identify the mind and body responses that contribute to emotional disregulation, and learn ways to regulate and stabilize your mood.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Trials and tribulations are a part of life. It would be great if we could avoid them, but we can't. I use ACT to help clients acknowledge and accept their struggles while focusing on what they can control and pursuing actionable steps to progress through difficulties.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
What would you like to see happen in this situation? That's the goal of Solution Focused techniques. I help clients set goals that work towards what they would like to accomplish. Will things go exactly as planned, maybe... maybe not, but there's always room to set new goals and continue moving forward.
Multicultural
I have extensive experience and thoroughly enjoy working with individuals from underrepresented races, ethnicites, and cultural experiences. I use my knowledge of the experiences of Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color (BIPOC) as a means to promote emotional processing and self-discovery. This happens by acknowledging how past and present biases contribute to the clients thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
