Asking for help is hard. When life gets to be overwhelming, talking about the issues can help organize your thoughts. The therapeutic relationship is the most important tool we'll use! We'll work on building trust, a sense of safety, and open communication to identify how we can improve on your already existing coping skills, supports, and knowledge. I utilize an eclectic approach to best meet your needs. I believe that being kind and compassionate with yourself is the first step to healing and creating change. I enjoy providing therapy for women and adolescents 14 and up. I love working with women and teens on issues such as grief and loss, depression, anxiety, and relationship/family problems. I can offer compassion and a safe space to explore what's going wrong and what we can do about it. Taking the first step is the hardest. I'd love to work with you on your journey to improved mental health.
In our first session, I want to learn about you! Tell me about the relationships in your life (partner, parents, kids, siblings, co-workers, etc.), your job, your hobbies and interests, your pets, and how you spend a typical day! I want to know what obstacles are keeping you from the goal of contentment. What have you already tried, and what worked/didn't work? I also want to know what symptoms you're currently struggling with - what does your depression/anxiety/transition look like, how does it present? Let's dig in and get started.
I love working with people who are at a precipice in their life - on the verge of a big change, but stuck right before the biggest step. This might mean the time right before you apply for a new job, consider college, or break off a relationship. Change is hard, and sometimes we need some encouragement, or someone to remind us why we're doing it in the first place. I also enjoy working with grief and loss. I've also had a big loss in my life, and I offer compassion, empathy, and a non-judging ear. I can encourage you to use those positive coping skills, enlist supportive individuals, and make self-care a priority.
I really enjoy working with adolescents 14+, young adults, and women.
CBT is the basic method we'll start with! It's easy to understand and makes so much sense when you learn the core basics.
