I entered the behavioral health field after seeking professional help for substance abuse, depression, and anxiety. I became a Chemical Dependency Counselor in 1995 and received my MSW in Clinical Social Work from Ohio State in 2002. I have been a Licensed Independent Social Worker in Ohio since 2005. I became a LCSW in Pennsylvania in 2014 and an LCSW in Maryland in 2022. I have worked mostly with adults and some teenagers dealing primarily with depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. I have a holistic perspective of mental wellness and view counseling and other healthy life choices as a way to achieve personal empowerment and self-actualization. This includes family-of-origin work and working on letting go of ingrained thinking and behaviors that hold a person back from achieving the quality of life they want and deserve. I am trauma-informed and comfortable working with members of the LGBT community. I also have experience working with grief and loss issues. My primary modalities are Cognitive-Behavioral, Solutions Focused, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy. Counseling is a client-driven process and is about the issues and concerns the client wants to address and work on.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and I’m a registered supervisor with my board. In my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings within public health, mental health treatment, substance use treatment, inpatient treatment, and private practice. While I have training in a number of therapeutic models, I primarily utilize existential approaches in therapy since their tenants are relatively universal in nature and relate well to most people's experiences. These tenants focus on an individual’s search for meaning, fears of loss, feelings of isolation, and the foundations of hope we build for ourselves. In terms of other models of treatment, I have certifications in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Critical Incident Stress Management, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. I have extensive training in culturally-integrated therapy, sexual health therapy, cyberpsychology, and Gottman-based therapies for couples. I have had the privilege to work with a wide range of clients in terms of age, gender, race, social economic status, and acuity of symptoms. While everyone has something unique to bring to therapy I find the most fulfillment working with couples, those dealing with issues regarding their sexuality, first responders (police, firefighters, EMT’s), individuals recovering from trauma, and people dealing with concerns with technology such as video game or online addiction. Regardless of what you are looking for from therapy, my aspiration is to provide an open and welcoming environment where a collaborative relationship can be built to assist you in exploring concerns that you have in your life.

Hi! I am Alyson Davis, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am a millennial and military brat that grew up in Northern Virginia. Currently, I reside in Maryland and have licenses in both Maryland and Virginia. I am taking clients in both states via telehealth. For undergrad, I attended the University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE!) and for my graduate education and clinical training I practiced at Valdosta State University. The therapeutic modality I use the most often is Narrative Therapy. Using Narrative Therapy, I help clients change the problem stories in their heads to preferred stories to improve their behaviors, relationships, and life outlook. With this practice, I enjoy using journal prompts, metaphors, and media. I am not a trained Christian therapist, but I do identify as a Christian, and enjoy using all religion and spirituality in my practice, but it is not required. I am LGBTQ-IA+ affirming and believe in honoring and creating space for all identities in session. A personal joy of mine is working with Black clients who are first-timers in therapy to work on destigmatizing mental health and healing the impacts of white supremacy. More specifically, I prioritize supporting Black clients who grew up in predominantly White spaces who did not feel "Black enough." My favorite problem to work with is when someone says "I'm stuck," to help a client not only get moving but move in a healthy direction. In my personal life, I am married and have a wonderful bonus-daughter and dog-son. That being said, I have an appreciation for working with blended families and exploring dating post-divorce. For self-care I enjoy writing fiction, listening to 90's and 2000s R&B, and watching romcoms. Looking forward to helping your healing journey.
