Hi there; I look forward to meeting you! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Florida. I received a masters degree in Human Development from the University of Maine and a masters degree in Social Work from the University of Central Florida. I have been practicing for 13 years and would be honored to work with you to identify where you are stuck and find a path to help you feel better soon. My style is warm, genuine, non-assuming, and collaborative. I truly listen without judgement and provide concrete tools designed to help you thrive, not just survive.
In our first session we will get to know each other better and see if we are a good fit. I'll ask questions about you so that I can custom fit a specific plan to help you. I'll allow time for you to ask any questions you have of me.
Over the course of the last 13 years as a therapist I've treated almost every scenario one can think of. I'm adept at recognizing "road blocks" and helping my clients realize their inherent worth and abilities. I utilize several approaches to get people back to feeling good again, usually in a short period of time. Many clients have told me that I'm easy to talk to, non-judgmental, and helpful at meeting their personal goals for therapy.
I love working with adults who are struggling and feel stuck, but are very motivated to improve their circumstances! I truly see the value in each individual and I'm always in your corner, giving you support in what I already know you can do. You may be in a loveless marriage, suffer from past trauma impacting the present, hate your job, feel sad/hopeless, or have overwhelming anxiety and panic. There is no problem too great and I know their are solutions and I'd be honored to walk along your path with you to to find improved health, happiness and life purpose!
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a type of therapy designed to assist you in identifying thoughts and their impact on mood. I enjoy utilizing my training and experiences to help others look at how interpretations of our experiences form both positive and negative assessments. Through engagement in between session work, the client can improve insights into how earlier life learning impacts the present. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has been closely studied and has been found to be one of the most effective therapies for assisting in improvement of mood.
I look at each person with individual strengths, worth, and ability to heal. Rogerian therapists see their clients with "Unconditional Positive Regard." In this sense, I see everyone as already having everything they need to succeed once obstacles are removed and a new path is found. I truly take a non-judgmental stance in treating clients, walking with them through their journey. Everyone has a story and I feel honored to walk their path with them toward their self-identified goals.
I became fully trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in 2011. I enjoy this unique modality as it can often speed up the process of uncovering and healing trauma. Although first utilized to treat PTSD, I also utilize EMDR for both anxiety and depression. It is a powerful tool to help individuals get "unstuck" and has many applications. I'd be happy to explain it further at our first session.
