(she/her)
I have been practicing therapy for over twenty years. I received my Master's degree in Social Work from Florida International University and my PsyD. in Grief Counselling from Breyer State Theology University. I have experience with individuals, couples, and families. Some of my primary areas of expertise are family and relationship conflict, intimacy related issues and difficulty with various life changes and transitions. I specialize in assisting those who may be going through a rough patch in life or have experienced the death of a loved one. It is important to have a strong therapeutic relationship with your therapist and to feel that they are a good match for you. I want you to feel that therapy is a safe and non-judgmental place to share your thoughts, and feelings. I believe that counseling should primarily be solution-focused to help you achieve your goals and begin to see improvement as soon as possible.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, to help ease into therapy, review informed consent and confidentiality, go over no show and cancellation policy, establish rapport and then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
Client-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy
My greatest strengths as a provider are working on the following: Relationship issues Family conflicts Self esteem Career difficulties Coping with life changes
At this time, my practice is best suited for individuals experiencing mild to moderate symptoms who are seeking supportive, skills-based therapy. For safety and clinical appropriateness, I am not currently able to provide services for individuals who are actively suicidal or who have experienced suicidal behavior or self-harm within the past. In those situations, a higher level of care or more intensive clinical support may be the most appropriate option.

I had a good first session with Ms. Nembhard and felt that she took my concerns seriously. We covered a lot in just one hour, and she even gave me a task for our next visit. I'm looking forward to more meaningful sessions with her.
