Hi there, I am Albert. Do you feel that specific life events have had a great impact on how you are managing and functioning daily? I am a clinician who believes that the past influences the present and future and if trauma has been a part of the human experience the impact on human functioning is even greater. It is my goal to create a safe and caring counseling atmosphere and setting so that the individual feels safe to explore the effect of trauma or any life event(s) that have impacted their life. Clients are encouraged to explore and engage in new aspects of themselves; finding new abilities which increase their positive daily functioning by increasing their living tool kit with new creative and important tools. I utilize evidence-based modalities to address the unique and specific needs of each client and I do so from a trauma-informed perspective. I provide long-term psychotherapy; I also work with clients doing short-term solution-focused therapy that is goal-specific. I completed my master's in counseling in 2005 from New Jersey City University. From 2005 to 2010 I was an associate counselor and upon completion of my supervision hours became a Licensed Practicing Counselor in 2010. I have had experience working in hospitals, outpatient clinics, community outreach and providing in-home therapy services for individuals and families. I have worked treating depression, anxiety, behavior problems, ADHD and issues related to gender identity as well as issues facing couples.

Life transitions, relationships in flux, maybe you haven't felt like yourself recently. Navigating hard emotions that keep you up a night, or preoccupy thinking, might be holding you back from enjoying activities and relationships you once did. Reasons for seeking therapy are unique and individual to you. You are deserving of a therapist who will build a space for you to be vulnerable with your story and emotions. Together, we can build a path forward through empathetic processing, acceptance, skill building, and goal planning. Therapy is like a compass, it doesn't provide all the answers, but it provides direction. Focusing on your strengths, presenting problem, and future goals, our time together will be spent targeting false thoughts, realizing potential, and building trust in yourself.

Whether there has been a significant loss, a life transition, relational conflict, or daily stressors, we all need support during difficult times. Sometimes, however, a trained professional can help navigate these challenges and assist in facilitating positive change. We aren’t always able to recognize the underlying cause of our discomfort or find ways to overcome life’s challenges. In a therapeutic setting, we will work together to discover healthier ways for you to deal with life’s struggles, make desired changes, improve relationships, and find inner healing. Seeking therapy can be viewed as an investment in yourself. Improving mental and emotional health is as important as one’s physical health. My role is to provide a safe space and come alongside you on your journey. I work with adolescents and adults and provide individual, couples, and family counseling services. I treat depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, (PTSD), relationship issues, parenting, behavioral concerns, and many other problems affecting how we feel and operate in the world.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I use dogs in my office while doing therapy. Please schedule telehealth or advise in advance if you are not comfortable in an office with animals. They do provide therapeutic support to clients and have been part of my practice for some time. I hold licenses in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and specialty certification as a Certified Advanced Drug & Alcohol Counselor and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I am a firm believer in everything that happens creates the person. I am a whole life counselor and work with people to explore what it would take to move past the difficult times in life. I take the time to get to know my clients and have many clients who have been with me for years. That doesn't mean someone will see me every week for the rest of their life. It means client know I am available when they have need. I do have clients who have seen me weekly for years not because they are dependent on me but because they have found benefit in processing their life regularly. I have had a successful personal practice for years and can offer clients the space and reverence to unpack the most unpleasant things to reorder them in a way they no longer can cause harm as they once did. There is no perfect childhood and it is likely families do the best they can and it may not have filled the needs of their child. I am happy to take as much time as needed to work through the problem as you understand it.

Hello my name is Gabrielle and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey. I received my Master's Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. I began my career working in a hospital based behavioral health center. This afforded me the opportunity to work with people who struggled with a broad range of concerns and obstacles. As my career moved to private practice I feel my previous role provided me with a wealth of experience. My therapeutic approach is rooted in the desire to help others improve their quality of life. This may encompass family stressors, change in life events and general challenges that can result in depression and/or anxiety. I utilize various techniques, including CBT, to identify barriers and develop coping techniques to work towards change and ultimately feel confident and empowered. Sometimes life can become difficult and stressful. It is okay to need help. Making the decision to begin therapy can feel overwhelming. However, it can also be the first step towards creating change in your life. I am committed to providing a compassionate and empathetic environment in which an individual can share their worries and concerns. Our session will be a place where you know you will be heard. Welcome and thanks for stopping in. My name is Kristy, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and my pronouns are she/her/hers. My ancestry is both Native American and northern European. I have been working in this field since 2013 and I have seen how overwhelming life can feel these days. There are so many pressures at home, at school and work, with your relationships and in society at large! Have you been feeling stressed, anxious, and/or worried about your future? Perhaps you feel consumed with thoughts about how you compare to others and what others think of you? Is your mind full of racing thoughts about how you just might not be good enough? Or perhaps there is a relentless inner critic that won't let you off the hook? I know how this feels because I have been there myself and I can tell you it does not have to be this way. You can learn to develop a different kind of relationship with yourself: One in which you can learn how the mind works & how to navigate its unhelpful & painful patterns more effectively; one in which you can discover how to approach yourself with kindness & support--the way you would a good friend in pain; one in which you uncover your strengths, gifts & values and allow this self-knowledge to help you make decisions in your life of which you feel proud. Are you feeling ready to dive deeper into your unconscious patterns that are affecting the way you live? Are you thinking you do not want to do some of the same ineffective things in your life that perhaps your caregivers did? I invite you to reach out to begin this deeper exploration.

I grew up near the Jersey Shore, where I first learned the value of finding peace and balance in nature. The beach remains my favorite place to recharge and reflect. As a licensed therapist, my goal is to help others discover their own sense of peace, joy, and resilience. I believe that sometimes we simply need a compassionate ear or a trusted guide to walk alongside us through life’s challenges. It is a privilege to support clients on their journey toward healing, growth, and greater self-understanding.

Welcome! I'm passionate about helping others find healing and wholeness. My desire is to help you know and understand yourself deeply, find healing from the past, and move from a place of "stuckness" to living a rich and meaningful life. I work with adults struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship issues, and poor self-image. I have extensive experience treating complex trauma and substance abuse, and as a Certified DBT Therapist, I specialize in treating Borderline Personality Disorder. I'm also a Certified Religious Trauma Specialist. I believe that one of the most underrated experiences is loss, including the end of significant relationships. I can help you navigate the grief, find meaning in the loss, and build hope moving forward. I believe that change best happens when we learn to accept where we are while simultaneously challenging ourselves to do better. My desire is to accept you wholly as you are, without judgement.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by New Jersey rather than a city like Newark?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across New Jersey from Jersey City to Paterson! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in New Jersey.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Family Conflict?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Family Conflict, is filtering therapists in New Jersey that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
