Welcome to my practice. Congratulations on reaching out! It takes immense courage to ask for help. I love my work. It is a privilege to be part of your journey. I have been in practice for many years and I have worked as a clinical psychologist and a nurse simultaneously throughout my career. I've been fortunate to have an extensive education with amazing professors. My undergraduate degrees are in Nursing Science, and my graduate degrees are in Clinical Psychology. I did a post doctoral certification with the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation that prepared me to work with first responders. My clinical experience began in nursing. Working in a medical setting, I discovered the power of words. I moved into psychiatry and later the emergency department working in both suburban and urban centers. My work in psychology has taken me to inpatient, outpatient, community and crisis mental health centers. I have maintained a private practice in outpatient psychotherapy since becoming licensed. In my practice, everyone is welcome. My philosophy is holistic and humanistic. We focus on what concerns you most. Often we collaborate with other skilled clinicians to get you the quickest and best results. I have had the privilege of participating with recognized critical incident teams in Ohio and New Jersey. As the director of Mercury Team I coordinated interventions for police, fire, and ems departments from Trenton to Vineland. It has been my pleasure to teach graduate and undergraduate students in psychology, nursing and general studies. I serve the New Jersey Police Training Commission as faculty for Crisis Intervention Team (Memphis model) mental health training for law enforcement across the state. In these complicated times we can all benefit from wise counsel. I invite you to give me a call or book a session online.

About Me As the sole owner and clinician of Walls Come Tumbling Down, I have spent the past two years building a practice centered on providing compassionate, supportive, and empowering mental health care. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 12 years of clinical experience, I understand that beginning therapy can feel both exciting and vulnerable. I am providing compassionate, supportive, and client-centered mental health care. I believe that therapy is a safe space where you can be heard, understood, and empowered to work through life’s challenges while discovering your strengths and purpose. As the sole owner and clinician of Walls Come Tumbling Down for the last 2 years My Ideal Client My ideal client is a woman of Christian faith who may be experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, or other life circumstances that have left her feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from herself. She is ready to grow, heal, and make meaningful changes in her life—mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. My Approach My approach to therapy is warm, compassionate, nonjudgmental, and faith-sensitive. I meet each client where she is and work collaboratively to help her develop practical tools, gain insight, strengthen her emotional well-being, and move toward the life she desires. For clients who desire it, I integrate Christian faith and spiritual principles into the therapeutic process while respecting each person’s individual beliefs and journey. I believe that healing is a process, and you do not have to walk through it alone. My goal is to help you recognize your worth, build resilience, strengthen your relationship with yourself and your faith, and create lasting positive change.

Hi there, I am Albert. Do you feel that specific life events have had a great impact on how you are managing and functioning daily? I am a clinician who believes that the past influences the present and future and if trauma has been a part of the human experience the impact on human functioning is even greater. It is my goal to create a safe and caring counseling atmosphere and setting so that the individual feels safe to explore the effect of trauma or any life event(s) that have impacted their life. Clients are encouraged to explore and engage in new aspects of themselves; finding new abilities which increase their positive daily functioning by increasing their living tool kit with new creative and important tools. I utilize evidence-based modalities to address the unique and specific needs of each client and I do so from a trauma-informed perspective. I provide long-term psychotherapy; I also work with clients doing short-term solution-focused therapy that is goal-specific. I completed my master's in counseling in 2005 from New Jersey City University. From 2005 to 2010 I was an associate counselor and upon completion of my supervision hours became a Licensed Practicing Counselor in 2010. I have had experience working in hospitals, outpatient clinics, community outreach and providing in-home therapy services for individuals and families. I have worked treating depression, anxiety, behavior problems, ADHD and issues related to gender identity as well as issues facing couples.

Hi, I'm Jean Messeroux, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with an MSW from Columbia University and over eleven years of experience supporting people through some of the most formative and demanding seasons of their lives. My background spans education and healthcare, where I worked as a teacher, social worker, and social emotional learning facilitator, and that experience shaped a practice built on the belief that therapy should feel practical, human, and connected to what you're actually living through, not detached from it. I work with a wide range of people, students figuring out who they are, professionals managing pressure and burnout, parents balancing everything at once, and athletes navigating performance and identity, because the core work of understanding yourself and building healthier patterns looks similar no matter what world you come from. Whatever brought you here, my goal is to create a space where you feel seen quickly and leave with tools you can actually use.

If you’re reading this, you’re probably carrying something heavy — and you may have been carrying it longer than you should have had to. I’m glad you’re here. I’m an LMFT licensed in both New York and New Jersey, and I work with adults who are navigating some of life’s most emotionally demanding seasons: parenting stress, relationship strain, depression, ADHD, and the kind of high-functioning exhaustion that doesn’t always look like struggle from the outside but absolutely feels like it. My approach is relational at its core. I believe that healing rarely happens in isolation — it happens in connection. Before any technique or homework assignment, I prioritize building a therapeutic relationship where you actually feel safe enough to be honest. That foundation isn’t just good therapy etiquette; it’s what makes everything else possible. From there, I draw on a range of evidence-based frameworks — attachment theory, CBT, DBT, and person-centered approaches — tailoring the work to what you specifically need rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model. Some clients need tools and structure. Others need space to process and be witnessed. Most need both, at different moments. I’ve worked with many people who came to therapy after putting it off for a long time — sometimes years. What kept them away was often fear: fear of judgment, fear of being misunderstood, or simply not knowing what therapy was supposed to feel like. I take that seriously. My goal from the very first session is to help you feel less alone in what you’re facing, and more capable of moving through it. You don’t have to have it figured out before you reach out. That’s what we’re here to do together.

With over 40 years' simultaneous experience as a therapist and social worker, I offer practice knowledge combined with working-class life experience. Your change goals will guide our work together. My job is to suggest different choices in the way you think and act in the areas of your life where you are experiencing discomfort. My style is a very warm yet direct one: Once you are comfortable with me, I won't hesitate to point-out ways in which you might unknowingly self sabotage or contribute to your stated problems. There will be alternatives suggested, and you are free to try-on new behavior patterns that align with your values and lifestyle. Change can be scary; it can also greatly improve your life's quality. For most of my career, I've offered counseling in-person while simultaneously working in social work, where I provided more concrete services. Now that I've made the decision to work from home and only part-time, I'm excited to solely focus on offering therapy services fully online.

You do not have to carry life’s challenges alone. Whether you are navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, addiction, relationship challenges, or a major life transition, healing is possible, and you deserve support that meets you where you are. I specialize in helping older adolescents ages 16 to 17 and adults navigate ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, addiction, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. My goal is to get to know you, understand your unique experiences, and work alongside you to create a path forward that reflects your unique needs and strengths. I believe meaningful therapy begins with trust, and I strive to create a compassionate, collaborative, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, respected, and supported throughout your therapeutic journey. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and provide an inclusive, culturally responsive environment where you can feel comfortable being your authentic self. Every person has a unique story, which is why I tailor therapy to your individual needs rather than taking a one size fits all approach. Using evidence based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, person centered therapy, strengths based therapy, and trauma informed care, we will work together to build practical coping skills, strengthen resilience, and identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck. Together, we will work toward helping you achieve meaningful, lasting change and a greater sense of confidence, balance, and well being.

Rita LaBrew, LMFT, licensed in New York and New Jersey, brings extensive experience in foster care, child welfare, private practice, and telehealth. I provide a collaborative, thoughtful therapy experience grounded in clinical expertise and evidence-informed care. Together, we'll work toward greater insight, emotional resilience, and meaningful, lasting change. I work with adults who are ready to move beyond simply managing symptoms and are willing to explore the deeper patterns shaping their lives. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, family-of-origin concerns, life transitions, or longstanding emotional patterns, therapy offers an opportunity to understand not only what you're experiencing, but why. My approach is primarily psychodynamic, integrating psychoeducation to help make complex emotional experiences more understandable and practical. Together, we explore how early relationships, unconscious patterns, protective roles, and present-day experiences influence your emotions, relationships, and decisions. As insight grows, clients often find themselves responding to life's challenges with greater clarity, confidence, and intention. Clients often describe my style as thoughtful, direct, and collaborative. I strive to create a space where curiosity replaces self-criticism, where difficult experiences can be understood without judgment, and where lasting change develops through deeper self-awareness rather than temporary solutions. My practice is best suited for adults seeking ongoing outpatient psychotherapy and is not a fit for higher-acuity or crisis-focused care. I may refer clients whose needs would be better served by a higher level of care, specialized treatment, or services outside my scope of practice. Please note that I do not provide documentation or written support for court, custody, disability, or other legal matters, and my practice is not a fit for individuals seeking therapy primarily for court-related issues. My goal is always to help clients find the care that best meets their needs.

Hello, I am Shana Toney, a Licensed Professional Counselor. Over my lifetime I have always worked in human services. It was gratifying to work with clients in their time of need and support them through the process. Many of the clients would say they felt comfortable talking to me and I listened to their needs. Those years of serving the community led me to become a therapist. Once I became a therapist 8 years ago, I found my passion. I love having the opportunity and freedom to work with clients, helping them figure things out, learn to create change in their lives and coping with situations they have no control over. I'm a therapist who believes good therapy starts with feeling comfortable, not like you're sitting across from someone with a clipboard. I bring warmth, honesty, and a little casualness to our work together. I'm also neurodivergent myself, so I know firsthand what it's like to navigate a brain that works a little differently. That lived experience makes me a better therapist , not just a more empathetic one, but a more real one. I'm the kind of therapist who will laugh with you, be straight with you, and when you're ready, go to the deeper and harder places right alongside you. With experience spanning from early childhood all the way through older adulthood, I've had the privilege of working with people across every stage of life and across a wide range of needs. No matter where you're starting from, my goal is always the same : to meet you where you are and grow with you throughout the process.

I found my career as a therapist as a secondary one which has provided exposure to multiple therapeutic settings. My start in community mental health gifted me with a well-rounded, diverse level of training and exposure to the human experience. More importantly, my background reinforced the importance and power of the therapeutic relationship. I am curious, empathetic, affirming, and compassionate. My sense of humor often finds its way into our sessions (as do my dogs, if you're so inclined!). Together, we will map your treatment, so that you are clear as to what to expect, regardless of the intervention. We start at the place you are ready, reinforcing the strengths and resiliency that you already exhibit. Together, we build from there to address what you came in for.. Therapy is hard work, but it is also profoundly full, rewarding and empowering. It's important for me to honor both the challenges and rewards.

Frequently asked questions

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in New Jersey. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across New Jersey from Jersey City to Paterson! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in New Jersey.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Depression, is filtering therapists in New Jersey that work with patients with similar concerns.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
