I am an engaging and connecting type of therapist who helps you feel like you can talk openly and without reserve. I love getting to know my clients and truly feel honored to be in this helping profession. I want to be your biggest fan and cheerleader and can honestly say I do not judge my clients. I have heard the darkest and worst things and still find that I like my clients and want them to succeed. I have been in private practice for about 12 years but have been a therapist for about 15-16. *I have included my basic work hours in the availability calendar but feel free to message me if you need to inquire about other availability. I often have other availability but it changes weekly so I cannot list it as static availability on my Grow Calendar. If we find another time than is listed here, I can schedule it on the Grow Platform.

I earned my Master of Social Work from Rutgers University School of Social Work and have spent my career working in a variety of areas within mental and behavioral health. Over the years, I have found that my greatest strengths and interests are in working with individuals navigating substance use disorders, trauma, life transitions, and patterns that can leave them feeling stuck. My approach to therapy is focused, practical, and collaborative. I lean strongly toward Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), helping clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and the choices they make in everyday life. I also recognize that our experiences, relationships, physical well-being, stress, and ability to care for ourselves all influence how we feel and function. I believe therapy should help you take what you learn about yourself and put it into action. Together, we can identify patterns that may no longer be serving you, recognize strengths and strategies that are already working, and develop realistic ways to create meaningful change outside of the therapy session. I place a strong emphasis on self-awareness, personal responsibility, balance, and self-care. I don’t view self-care as another list of things you “should” be doing, but as an important part of building a life that is manageable and sustainable. Whether you are working through trauma, substance use or recovery, a difficult transition, or simply know that something needs to change, my goal is to help you better understand where you are, identify where you want to go, and take manageable steps toward getting there.

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) practicing in New Jersey. I work with anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, mood disorders, and more in both adults and adolescents. I spent nearly a decade working in substance use and dual diagnosis treatment before intentionally expanding my practice and qualifications to work with a broader range of human challenges. That foundation continues to inform my work, help clients go beyond managing symptoms to understand the deeper patterns driving their thoughts,, emotions, and behaviors, so they can create lasting, meaningful change. My approach is integrative and trauma- informed, combining cognitive, somatic, attachment-based, and existential therapies. I also integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS) into my work, helping clients understand the different parts of themselves. Mind-body awareness is foundational, born from nearly 20 years of experience teaching yoga and meditation. You don't have to have anything figured out to begin. Therapy can offer a space to explore, understand, and begin to shift those patterns in a way that feels meaningful and lasting. I have successfully worked as a counselor for 41 years and have also taken advantage of counseling opportunities to better myself. I look forward to meeting you, learning about your hopes and passions and seeing if we can work together to help you feel better and function more effectively. I am very experienced helping persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses such as Schizophrenia, severe Bipolar Disorder or Major Depressive Disorder. As I am 66 years old I also feel very comfortable helping older adults who face a variety of new challenges later in life. A good counselor knows their limitations and as such, I suggest you seek a different person if you are looking for help with trauma-related issues or partner issues. Hello my name is Gabrielle and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey. I received my Master's Degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. I began my career working in a hospital based behavioral health center. This afforded me the opportunity to work with people who struggled with a broad range of concerns and obstacles. As my career moved to private practice I feel my previous role provided me with a wealth of experience. My therapeutic approach is rooted in the desire to help others improve their quality of life. This may encompass family stressors, change in life events and general challenges that can result in depression and/or anxiety. I utilize various techniques, including CBT, to identify barriers and develop coping techniques to work towards change and ultimately feel confident and empowered. Sometimes life can become difficult and stressful. It is okay to need help. Making the decision to begin therapy can feel overwhelming. However, it can also be the first step towards creating change in your life. I am committed to providing a compassionate and empathetic environment in which an individual can share their worries and concerns. Our session will be a place where you know you will be heard. It is a place where we will acknowledge difficult situations and celebrate accomplishments, strengths and growth with the possibility of some tears but plenty of laughter as well.

*note: Monday 8pm is for biweekly appointments Hello! My name is Rukiya and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in New Jersey. Professionally I have been working as an outpatient clinician in community mental health for the past five years and working in the field for the past 8 years. I work with adults from different communities who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, stress, identity concerns, and self-esteem. My approach is person-centered and collaborative, grounded in the belief that individuals are the experts of their own experiences. I help clients to reconnect with themselves and their communities at their own pace. Personally, I went into this field wanting to understand myself more and others around me. What came out of it was finding myself, finding community, and finding the language to name things that were happening to me and around me. I believe people are the experts of themselves and I get the honor to hold space and help connect the dots. Outside of Therapy I am a writer and a poet. I am a former peer educator. I'm passionate about creating a space where someone can find the best version of themselves because it was a gift that was given to me. Also, fan of basketball and Women's sports. To learn more about me and my approach I have website innerwebtherapy.com where I also share resources for building support, growth, and community.

Hi. I'm Steve. Do you ever wonder why, no matter how many different things you've tried, you fall back into old behaviors that hurt you and/or those you love? Do you wonder why your emotions take over and leave you feeling incapable or overwhelmed? Do your emotions get in the way of effectively communicating when it matters the most? We all face questions like this, and the most fulfilling part of my work is helping people like you find answers to those questions. I don’t have any “one-size-fits-all” solutions, but together we will work to identify what drives your responses and what you can do to make lasting changes. We will work to help you anticipate and prevent issues before they appear, to feel emotional intensity rising and calm it down, and to exit stressful situations before doing or saying something you’ll regret. I don’t believe that our worst moments define us. I DO believe that each of us is capable of overcoming past struggles and finding a new path. I look forward to working with you as you try to find yours.

Hi, I’m Gretchen Raring, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW: NJ, FL, AZ & ND; LICSW: MA) with 20+ years of experience in behavioral health. I work with teens through older adults and support clients from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. My practice is grounded in the belief that therapy should feel supportive and purposeful. My style is warm, direct, and collaborative, and I see therapy as a team effort. I want you to feel comfortable being honest while supported and challenged toward change. My approach is structured but flexible. We’ll have a sense of direction while making room for what matters most. I use an eclectic approach based on your needs and goals. I don’t believe therapy should feel one-size-fits-all. One of my strengths is being highly attuned and building the trust that allows deeper work. Together, we’ll connect the dots between your experiences, emotions, relationships, thoughts, and behaviors. We’ll identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck and develop practical strategies for everyday life. My background includes work across mental health, addiction, trauma, homelessness, the criminal justice system, and community-based behavioral health. I’ve worked with people during difficult times in their lives. Those experiences shape how I practice and reinforce my belief that there is always more to someone’s story than what you see on the surface. I believe progress is about the direction of our work, not the speed. Change often happens through small steps. I believe in celebrating every win because those wins build confidence and momentum. Above all, I want therapy to be a place for honest conversations, deeper understanding, practical tools, and meaningful change-at a pace that works for you. At this time, I am accepting individual clients only and am not accepting new couples. I will update my profile when couples availability reopens.

I bring over 4 years of experience treating adolescents, young adults, and adults with a particular focus on anxiety, grief, adoption, co-occurring disorders, trauma, and life transitions. I support my clients by collaborating to build resilience and teach coping skills in a supportive, understanding environment. I believe in meeting people where they are and that building the therapeutic relationship by using a collaborative and person-centered approach to therapy empowers clients to make changes that are necessary and will lead to client success. I approach building the therapeutic relationship with a sense of humor and down-to-earth nature. I am a firm believer that what works for one person may not work for the next, which is why I utilize various modalities such as motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), motivational interviewing to name a few. I believe meaningful change comes from focusing on what’s within our control and utilizing skills to help cope. My goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can share openly about what you’re going through. Reach out and take the first step! I would be honored to be a part of your healing journey!

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in New Jersey. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across New Jersey from Jersey City to Paterson! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in New Jersey.

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
