New to Grow
I have been in the field a number of years and worked with individuals from various backgrounds, needs and goals. Through my practice years I have worked with individuals starting at a young age of 11 all the way to seasoned ages into the 80's. This has allowed me to gain experience within various life stages. Approaches I utilized are always based on the individual and very client centered. Sessions are built on confidentiality, trust and offer a nonjudgmental space for you to explore your emotions and life events
Our session will be nice conversation getting to know each other to help build a good foundation. During this session i would love you hear about your interests and what has you reaching out for therapy. This is a session with no agenda; it is just us having a relaxed conversation.
The biggest strength I have is flexibility. I understand life happens which can derail plans and goals for the day. This allows me to meet individuals where they currently are emotionally. Being flexible allows me to adapt to the current needs necessary in the moment. Another strength which is complimented by my flexibility, is knowing when to sit back a listen and when to push. This is an important balance. There are times people need to feel heard and times when they need a nudge.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Through CBT we can explore events, situations and thoughts which are triggering reactions you may want to change. This approach kept help strengthen and develop news skills and strategies, bringing you more peace and reducing stress.
Narrative
Individuals are experts of their own lives. Using this approach clients explore their own strengths and help redefine their own narrative. This helps to learn we are experiencing symptoms versus identifying as the symptom.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
This is a structured form of therapy. It focuses on mindfulness (increasing awareness), distress tolerance (learning to cope with pain and stress), emotional regulation (understanding intense emotions and how to manage) and interpersonal effectiveness.
Eclectic
I tend to be very eclectic when using therapeutic approaches, applying the skills and education as each individual needs at the time. Taking this approach allows me to be flexible and meet the needs of a variety of different individuals We are not all cut from the same cookie cutter and taking this approach allows me to utilize tactics from many approaches to help you in the moment.
