(she/her)
Hi there; I'm Eileen. It's good to see you here. If you're reading this, you've already taken a big step towards your own healing and growth. Sometimes, getting to the point of seeking outside support can feel like a journey in and of itself. I hope I can be a part of your journey from here. A little about me: while I have experience in helping folks with a broad range of issues, I specialize in helping people to heal from past experiences of trauma. I have extensive training in a number of evidenced-based techniques. I recognize that trauma impacts every person differently, and so I don't believe in a "one size fits all" approach to therapy. It is my goal that you feel seen and heard, and that your treatment be tailored to your individual needs and life experience. I also believe in treating the whole person - mind, body, and spirit - and to that end, I often incorporate things like mindfulness, meditation, yoga, and other mind/body practices into my work. I'm interested in learning about you - your life, your experiences - and then using what I learn to help you towards your goals. I believe that you are the key to your own healing, and that you are more than what has happened to you. I see my role as one of guiding you and offering you tools that empower you to overcome the things that you might feel are holding you back - whether that's past trauma, struggles with anxiety or depression, unhealthy relationships, or patterns of thought or behavior that are no longer serving you. Whatever your goals may be, you deserve to have compassion and support as you work towards them. I'm looking forward to providing that to you. Let's get started!
In our first session, I'll be asking a lot of questions to understand the context of your life and the struggles you're experiencing as fully as I can. I joke that it might feel like an interrogation, but also will reinforce that you don't have to share anything you don't feel ready to share with me. Some things take time, and I get that. I'll also share what you can expect in my approach to therapy and answer any questions you might have, to make sure we both feel like this will be a good fit for you. We'll then talk about your goals for therapy, so that we can begin working collaboratively toward those goals.
Three of my biggest strengths as a therapist are the knowledge, compassion, and curiosity I bring to each client that I serve. In my experience of learning about trauma, I have come to believe that people make sense, given the context of their lives. Sometimes, healing can come from that understanding alone - being able to recognize the "why" of things. That often comes from a combination of outside information and insight-building. I want to help you find your "why," and I want to help you learn to be gentle and kind to yourself in the process. A quote I love from Carl Jung states, "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate." By gaining awareness and insight, we also gain the ability to choose. And then, that choice brings healing.
While I have experience working with a range of clients, I'm best positioned to serve those looking to delve deep into the experiences and issues that might be keeping them stuck. I tend to work with folks over an extended period of time, so those looking for more of short-term, solution-focused approach might be a better fit for another provider. My style is best suited to those are not looking for an incredibly structured approach, who want to engage in more of an open dialogue and dynamic exploration. I joke that I'm a bit of a nerd, so I tend to bring in different theories and ideas in my work with clients. I also lean towards allowing space for somatic and/or emotional experiences and processing in session. The combination of these things seem to work well for folks who are interested in having both an intellectual understanding of themselves, and in also working through and releasing deeply help feelings and experiences.
Attachment-based
I have participated in a number of trainings on attachment theory, and I incorporate a good amount of this into my work with clients. If this kind of work appeals to you, you can expect us to have conversations about your relational experiences with your caregivers in early childhood and how these experiences might have shaped certain beliefs about both self and other. We'll also explore themes such as relational patterns, inner child work, emotional regulation, and self-compassion.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is a modality that was first introduced to me when I was in graduate school, and I have incorporated aspects of this treatment method into my work throughout my career. While I do not utilize this approach in a highly structured way (you likely won't be given tangible "homework" from me as pure CBT therapists might do), I do often bring in the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all intricately connected. You might expect us to explore patterns of thought/belief and/or behavior that might be getting in the way for you, and to work on developing strategies to help reframe or shift some of these patterns so that they better serve you.
EMDR
I have been an EMDR Trained clinician since 2023. It is of course an optional approach to bring into our work together, but if you choose to more directly work through reprocessing past traumatic memories, this is likely the method we would use. It is a highly structured, evidence-based approach to healing past trauma. If this more structured approach doesn't resonate for you, I also have training in other trauma-informed approaches to therapy.
Mind-body approach
My early training and entry into the field began with dance/movement therapy. While I have moved away from that over the course of my career and into more traditional forms of talk therapy, the idea that are minds and bodies are intricately connected has remained as one of my primary theoretical frameworks. In our work together, this might come into play in me employing certain somatic approaches, or through incorporating things like mindfulness, yoga, mediation, and other practices proven to help connect our mind and bodies in healthy ways.
Humanistic
Humanistic or client-centered approaches to therapy are a cornerstone of my practice. Over the course of our work together, you might hear me say that while I might be the "expert" on therapy, I believe firmly that you are the expert on you. I will be a guide and help to facilitate your process, but ultimately, our work together will be based on your personal goals, with a focus on helping you to find your own answers to and to reach your highest potential.

Eileen is very intelligent, she reads a lot of books and recommends those to me, which are very helpful to understand my own feelings. The best thing that I have learned from her is about acceptance. I had a lot of self doubt, self criticism. until the moment when Eileen said” it sounds difficult for you”, I teared up ; I didn’t know those bad moments , bad thoughts, and bad actions in my life are acceptable. I have learned from her how to be aware of and how to analyze my emotions.
