New to Grow
Hello I often hear clients say, “I don’t even know where to start” when they first begin therapy. I understand that feeling. The first step is to make sense of what’s happened in your life in order to start to tackle the issues and ultimately make some changes. I am a seasoned therapist with 17 years experience helping adult clients find their own inner wisdom and strength to resolve issues in their lives. It feels burdensome to rely on friends and family to help us through difficult life challenges. The greatest joy for me as a therapist is to be able to provide a safe space where clients feel unconditionally accepted and heard without judgement. Therapy is a collaborative process where the client and therapist work together to explore and identify barriers which prevent resolution. I believe that the therapeutic alliance between client and provider is key to a successful outcome. I use psychodynamic, solution focused and client centered approaches to help clients gain insight, identify barriers and foster empowerment to make changes and resolve issues.
Our first session will allow us to get to know each other and provide time for you as the client to be able to identify current issues which brought you to therapy. If time allows, we will discuss some history and any other pertinent aspects of your life that are relevant. We will identify your own goals for therapy and I will explain my approach.
I have been told that I am easy to talk to and make my clients feel safe and validated. I am an excellent listener and believe in the power and effectiveness of a good therapeutic alliance.
I help adults identify, explore and process issues in their relationships with family members, friends, significant others and coworkers. With my guidance and prompting, together we work on best ways to cope and
So many of our issues stem from the relationships we have in our life; starting from the earliest, (parents and siblings) to the current, (partners, children, bosses, and friends.) When relationships become strained, complicated, or just plain difficult, it can cause us to experience anxiety, depression and other mental health symptoms. My initial approach is to explore these relationships in your life and help you identify issues which are causing the problems. The next step is to help you to develop and implement more effective communication skills and healthier ways to cope in order to improve the relationships and your mental health.
