New to Grow
As a therapist, I describe myself as open, honest, direct, and grounding. I have a laid-back, humorous style that keeps our sessions down-to-earth. I am goal-oriented, blending a structured Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) framework with a strong emphasis on interpersonal skills, as relationship dynamics always find a way into the therapy room. I deeply value the therapeutic relationship, focusing on creating a safe space built on mutual trust. I view our bond as the primary foundation for how you can build and navigate healthier relationships in your outside life. My approach is profoundly shaped by my own life experiences. Coming from a background of broken family relationships, I intimately understand what it means to live through past trauma, struggle, and navigate mental health challenges. It is this exact journey of resilience that made me the person I am today and fuels my genuine passion to help others heal.
The first session is designed to be a comfortable, low-pressure introduction where the primary goal is simply to get to know you as a person and get a feel for our relational dynamic. During this time, an intake assessment will be conducted, which is an overall review of your personal and mental health history. This helps gather the necessary background context, but it also serves a much more practical purpose: determining if we are a good fit for one another. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all experience, and not every therapist is the right match for every client. Being open, honest, and realistic about this from day one is the very first step toward building a genuinely collaborative relationship and avoiding potential barriers down the road. To ensure we are on the same page, the session will also focus on establishing clear expectations for treatment and mapping out your future goals for therapy, ensuring you feel empowered and aligned with the direction of your care.
My therapeutic style is defined by an active, back-and-forth dynamic. I am not a psychodynamic therapist, and you will not find me sitting back in silence while you free associate all day. Instead, I believe the therapeutic relationship should mirror an authentic, practical, and realistic dynamic like the ones you experience in the outside world. Because of this, I will at times challenge you and gently push back on your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. As a cognitive behavioral therapist, this pushback is an intentional part of treatment. By challenging certain perspectives in real-time, I am teaching you how to use critical thinking, look at evidence-based practices, and eventually identify, challenge, and reframe your own negative thinking patterns outside of session. While this active and direct approach works for some, it can also mean I am not the right fit for everyone. Clients who prefer a highly passive environment or traditional psychoanalysis may find my style less aligned with their needs, and that is completely okay. Therapy is ultimately about you, not me. My primary goal in every single conversation will always be to listen to you deeply, ensure you feel completely understood, and use this focused, goal-oriented dynamic to help you achieve real clarity.
Taking the step to start therapy can feel incredibly intimidating and difficult, and it is completely understandable to feel that way. The individuals who thrive most in this space are those who recognize that difficulty but are still ready to take that leap of faith, embracing vulnerability to improve themselves and their overall circumstances. You will find a therapeutic environment built on warmth, authenticity, and a collaborative partnership. There is a strong focus on grounding you and normalizing your experiences, helping you cut through the noise so that life begins to feel simpler, lighter, and much easier to handle. You deserve to be understood deeply, heard completely, and seen without a single ounce of judgment. While there is a distinct structure and clear expectations brought to the work, the process remains entirely flexible to your unique needs. Whether you need an authentic space to process your week, practical strategies to navigate day-to-day challenges, or a safe environment to face deeper fears and personal barriers, the pace is always dictated by what serves you best. Ultimately, the goal is to empower you with the agency to change your circumstances, build a foundation of mutual trust, and work as a team to accomplish the exact life you want.
