New to Grow
Hi, I'm Jean Messeroux, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with an MSW from Columbia University and over eleven years of experience supporting people through some of the most formative and demanding seasons of their lives. My background spans education and healthcare, where I worked as a teacher, social worker, and social emotional learning facilitator, and that experience shaped a practice built on the belief that therapy should feel practical, human, and connected to what you're actually living through, not detached from it. I work with a wide range of people, students figuring out who they are, professionals managing pressure and burnout, parents balancing everything at once, and athletes navigating performance and identity, because the core work of understanding yourself and building healthier patterns looks similar no matter what world you come from. Whatever brought you here, my goal is to create a space where you feel seen quickly and leave with tools you can actually use.
Our first session is about getting to know each other and making sure this feels like the right fit for you. I'll ask about what brought you to therapy, the patterns or challenges you're hoping to work through, and what your life looks like day to day, whether that's school, work, sport, or family. You won't need to have the words perfectly figured out. Part of my job is helping you find language for what you're experiencing and beginning to map out what progress could look like together. By the end of our time, you'll have a clearer sense of how I work and a first step forward, even if that step is simply feeling a little lighter than when we started.
My approach blends clinical training with over a decade of on the ground experience working with young people, families, and high performers under pressure. I bring a practical, grounded style that meets you where you are rather than asking you to adapt to a rigid framework, drawing on social emotional learning principles, performance psychology, and straightforward conversation about what's actually working and what isn't. Clients tend to describe our sessions as direct without being harsh and supportive without being vague. I want you to leave each conversation with real insight and something concrete to carry into your week, not just a space to vent but a partnership actively building toward the life you want.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients recognize the connections among their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful patterns, challenge beliefs that no longer serve them, and develop practical skills that foster resilience, emotional balance, and meaningful change in daily life.
Motivational Interviewing
My approach to Motivational Interviewing is collaborative and nonjudgmental. I help clients explore ambivalence, clarify their values, and strengthen their own motivation for change, empowering them to take steps that align with the life they want to build.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Using Solution-Focused Brief Treatment, I guide clients in identifying their existing strengths, past successes, and achievable goals. By concentrating on what is working and envisioning preferred outcomes, we create practical strategies that can lead to meaningful progress in a relatively short period of time.
