It would be my pleasure to work with you! My name is Kim Sylla and I have been interested in the field of social services since childhood when I enthusiastically listened to the life stories of those around me including friends, neighbors and extended relatives. This interest grew with with my first therapist volunteer experience -- at the age of 20 -- with individuals who had substance use and mental health disorders. Since then I have had a wide array of additional volunteer and work experiences with adults and adolescents undergoing various life challenges at work, school, home and in the larger community. My varied experience, training and education prepared me to use an integrative therapeutic approach that draws on cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and ecological systems theory.

As a child, Jermain was exposed to community violence, and an unstable home because of substance use, neglect, and extreme bullying. Through God’s grace Jermain was able to overcome his emotional challenges and went on to serve in the United States Army for over 6 years. Initially and obtains two graduate-level degrees in counseling. Jermain sought to have a career in enforcement; however, in the year of 2011, Jermain’s father passed away from heart disease that was triggered by long-term use of substances. Hello, I am Dr. Young. Life is full of colors. Light or dark, each has its unique quality. The secret to becoming successful in playing the game of life is to change from the inside out. We live to move forward, and it requires us to be more and do more. Resilience is an innate human capacity. In my view, everyone is capable of self-healing given the proper guidance and provided with supportive conditions. With a cultivated healthy sense of self, solutions appear with the clarity to think about what you desire in life, not what you cannot or don't have. In tough water, even good swimmers might struggle. If you have dreams and hopes, I can help you to pick up new skills going through the waves of life. Let's work together!

Hi there, I'm Keith. I'm a licensed therapist in Pennsylvania (LPC) and Florida (LMHC). In life we have two choices to make: to live like or unlike the person we want to be. It can be easy to take a look around at your emotional, mental, social, physical, occupational, and spiritual selves and notice certain aspects of them which do not reflect the way you want your life to be. Maybe you feel overwhelmed by difficult emotions like anxiety or depression. Perhaps you feel inundated with negative, self-critical, or racing thoughts. It could be that there's aspects of your relationships that you're unhappy with. Or, you may have issues with your health, addiction, sleep, or feeling on-edge. Your work or school might be stressful or unfulfilling. Perhaps you're struggling with your identity and are experiencing personal and/or systemic discrimination or oppression. Whatever the case may be, I'm here to help you find balance and work towards living a life that looks more like the one you want to have. Together we will identify the issues you're facing, explore and treat them with compassion, and find strategies to address them and seek balance. I will use my warmth, empathy, unconditional positive regard, and evidence-based therapeutic practices to help you live a life that's rooted in your values. I will support you to make positive choices, grow, and find ways to cope with the lows that come along in life and pull you away from being who you want to be. I believe that all people are worthy of love. I am a member of the LGBTQ+ community and am affirming to queer people, women, people of color, and adults of all ages. If you are looking for a safe therapist to be yourself with, I'd love to work with you.

I have worked in mental health for over 20 years. I received my BA in Psychology in 1994 and my Masters in Social Work in 1997. Since then, I have worked in various settings including the Behavioral Health System of Philadelphia, numerous behavioral health facilities which include psychiatric units, detox and rehabs, college counseling settings and in assisted living/nursing facilities with older adults. In 2013, I started an in person private practice and then made the jump to telehealth during the pandemic. I find that telehealth is much more accessible and convenient for clients as we are still able to do amazing work together! Do you ever feel stuck? Do you feel like nobody understands what you are going through? Do you feel like you have burdened friends and family with your worries even though you know they love you? Do you feel like you have the answers but nobody around you is listening? You do not have to have a major mental health diagnosis to go to therapy. You may be going through a life transition or having trouble communicating with others. You might be surrounded by others with deeper issues which is affecting your mental health. Or you might be suffering from anxiety, depression or past unresolved trauma. You might have disordered eating, obsessive-compulsive tendencies or an urge to use alcohol or drugs to self-medicate your pain. You might be coping in ways that aren’t healthy but that is how you learned to cope. I can help you navigate whatever place you are in and help to elevate you to a healthier space where you feel happier and more in tune with yourself. There are numerous reasons why people come to therapy. Just know that with me, you will be in a judgement free zone and I will utilize my many years of experience to assist you to getting to a better place. I work with anyone over 16 years old. I have specialized experience working with college aged clients and the older adult population. I have a long history of working with those from the LGBTQIA+ population as well. I look forward to meeting and connecting with you!

I believe that a holistic approach to mental health is the most lasting way to approach therapy. I enjoy working with individuals to explore their feelings to come to a place of acceptance and self-compassion. My areas of expertise are anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and trauma. All of us have things in our lives that didn’t cause the trauma but trigger it. I can help you overcome these triggers. I am passionate about educating people about “small t trauma” and “big T trauma,” because so often individuals don’t even recognize traumatic experiences as significant because “they could have had it worse.” "Little t traumas" are experiences that leave someone feeling hopeless. They are distressing events that can be beyond a person’s ability to cope, although they do not necessarily cause life-threatening or bodily-threatening outcomes. Some examples of "little t traumas" can include; infidelity, divorce, legal trouble, grief, interpersonal conflict, bullying, financial difficulty, chronic stress, living in an unsafe environment, or feeling unloved, worthless or unimportant. "Big T traumas" are the types of traumas that are deeply disturbing, life-threatening events or situations. some examples of these are being the witness to or victim of; violent crimes, abuse, war, natural disasters, serious car accidents, or death. Working through trauma is hard, it is often life-long, but it is worth it. I can help you live your best life, regardless of your trauma history. I am honored to work with all types of individuals. I strive to live an examined life and to continue to learn and better myself, to best impact the world around me. I know from my personal and professional experiences that we must have good habits firmly in place or bad habits will take over. I aim to educate and empower my clients within a safe, inclusive and nonjudgmental environment.

Hi! I'm Jen Tucker, a licensed mental health counselor who is passionate about serving others. I'm a military veteran and a military spouse. I'm also a wife, mom, and grandmother. I've been through a lot in my life. Most of you have too. After all, you find yourself here looking for something. It is my firm belief that each and every one of us has tremendous potential. We all have unique talents and skills, honed and sharpened through our life experiences. These experiences, while crucial to shaping us, can also leave us hurt, confused, numb, or insecure. It is paramount that we stop along our journey to take stock, address our needs, heal, and refocus. Sometimes, we realize we may benefit from having extra support or guidance through these moments. That is where therapy can help. Throughout my counseling career, I have had the privilege of being able to walk beside clients as they process the past, learn to be comfortable in the present, and get excited for the future. I am certified in trauma and treat clients with a wide range of concerns. Whether you feel ready to dive into therapy, or you are just contemplating the idea, I'd love to hear from you. I am currently accepting video clients for individual therapy. If you aren't ready to make contact, I have some resources available for self-reflection. Check out my blog at NotWavingButDrowning.org or my TikTok @MHMinute, where you'll find videos on a variety of mental health topics.

Hi I'm Fabyonne, Our stressors, which can include hectic lives, and often overwhelming schedules, can keep us from living our very best life. Do you wish you could just check out of the matrix and reset if only for a moment? Well, I am here to help you do just that. I am both an LPC and MFT and for this reason, I utilize an eclectic mix of therapeutic modalities and resources to help you regain a sense of control when life feels chaotic. Granting you the space to verbally process all the answers (which by the way have been placed inside you) necessary to heal and deal with all life throws your way. My history includes a 25-year teaching career and a slow transition to a full-time therapist in the last 8 years. The classroom experience is where I learned the foundational structure and hands-on impact of counseling (as teachers are literally everything to everybody).

Hi there, I am Rachel a licensed clinical social worker and therapist. Are you struggling to figure out the solution to your internal conflicts, but don’t know where to begin? You don’t like the way things are going, but have fallen into the cultural norm of just pushing through? Do you feel like you’re “just present” or on autopilot? Do you struggle to be intentional? Maybe it’s sleep deprivation from being awake all night with your newborn, the stress of your career is keeping you awake or even the struggle of balancing life, as they say “life keeps life-ing.” Let’s talk about it… My area of expertise includes pregnancy and postpartum support, conception, birth trauma, and loss. In addition, I work with clients experiencing fluctuating self-esteem, imposter syndrome, depression, anxiety and emotions surrounding intergenerational mobility (change in socioeconomic status/income) and generational trauma. Seeking therapy can feel scary but you're making the right choice. You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome the hangups and habits holding you back. Let's work together!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I hold licenses in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and specialty certification as a Certified Advanced Drug & Alcohol Counselor and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I am a firm believer in everything that happens creates the person. I am a whole life counselor and work with people to explore what it would take to move past the difficult times in life. I take the time to get to know my clients and have many clients who have been with me for years. That doesn't mean someone will see me every week for the rest of their life. It means client know I am available when they have need. I do have clients who have seen me weekly for years not because they are dependent on me but because they have found benefit in processing their life regularly. I have had a successful personal practice for years and can offer clients the space and reverence to unpack the most unpleasant things to reorder them in a way they no longer can cause harm as they once did. There is no perfect childhood and it is likely families do the best they can and it may not have filled the needs of their child. I am happy to take as much time as needed to work through the problem as you understand it.

Hello, I am a licensed professional counselor and a board certified art therapist. I have been practicing for just over five years and I received my masters degree in art therapy from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA. I help clients with various needs such as anxiety, life transitions, ADHD, relationships, communication and coping skills to help become the best versions of themselves. I started my journey at KidsPeace Children's Hospital as an art therapist for a couple years, running group and individual therapy sessions. After KidsPeace I transitioned to St. Luke's Hospital in Quakertown as a therapist running group therapy sessions. Talk therapy is the most common method of therapy on this platform, but be aware that if you do have any interest in art therapy, we can certainly incorporate that into our work together whether that be during our sessions or for homework. The choice is yours!

Hi, I'm a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Virginia and Pennsylvania. I received my Doctorate degree in Couple & Family Therapy from the University of Minnesota and have been practicing for 8 years. I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families who struggle with anxiety, chronic health conditions, depression, loss and grief, stress, trauma, and relationship issues such as boundaries, parenting, intimacy, infidelity, trust, and more. I work with clients to process and heal psychological and relational pain. I believe that therapy is both science and art. The art of therapy can be seen as a joint venture between clients and therapists, and the science reflects in providing assessments, treatment plans, and evidence-based interventions. I believe in the collaboration between clients as experts in their lives and myself as a therapist who is trained in providing therapy services.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Pennsylvania rather than a city like Philadelphia?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Pennsylvania from Pittsburgh to Scranton! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Pennsylvania.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

What are the "Clients say I'm" badges?

Grow Therapy asks patients about their experience with therapists after they have had a certain number of sessions. After enough responses, we add those characteristics to their profiles to help you find the best online therapists for you. We're still working on collecting this information from all our therapists.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
