I wear many hats as a talk-therapist, creative arts therapist, mom, partner, friend, and engaged community member. While balancing a career as a teaching artist and mom, I was drawn to counseling because of the help I received and my desire to help others navigate life's challenges. I am now a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Board-Certified Dance/Movement Therapist who helps people take the next steps toward feeling better and living fuller.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session involves getting to know each other, understanding the risks and benefits of therapy, gathering information from your past and what brings you to therapy, and setting goals. I aim to create a welcoming environment, answer all of your questions (while asking many of my own), and give you a sense of what to expect during future sessions.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am skilled at helping people feel at ease, which I believe is necessary for opening up and trusting another person and the process of therapy. My approach is person-centered, strengths-based, holistic, and eclectic. I will use methods that best suit your needs and invite feedback throughout our collaboration. I am also skilled and ready to bring creativity, mindfulness, movement, and play into the process if that is helpful or desired.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I have experience working with children, teens, younger and older adults, parents and families. Each stage in life brings challenges, and I am ready to help you cope with overwhelming emotions, stressors and transitions, conflicts, negative thoughts, and worries. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, disordered eating, body image issues, health concerns, trauma, grief or loss, or a combination of issues, I am here to listen, offer support, and provide useful skills and resources. I view therapy as a collaborative journey based on a safe and trusting relationship. Whether you are looking for short-term solutions, coping skills or long-term support, I will listen and engage with empathy, sensitivity, and humility to help you progress toward your goals.

My treatment methods

Humanistic

Humanistic counseling is a people-centered approach, where I meet you with positive regard and empathy, honor your experiences, listen deeply, and help you realize your full potential. We explore your emotions, values, and beliefs, and take a holistic or whole-person approach to present experiences and actions.

Strength-Based

Sometimes it is hard to see your own strengths. Strength-based counseling is a positive, affirming, and collaborative process of uncovering and rediscovering strengths, skills, resources, and resilience. It is a way of building yourself up, feeling empowerment and growing self-esteem by focusing on your strong foundation rather than points of weakness.

Mind-body approach

I am also a dance/movement therapist who is trained in somatic interventions such as using breathwork, attention to physical sensations, imagery, and mindfulness to calm the body and mind, release tension, and decrease stress and reactivity. Working from the bottom up or from the body to the mind, we can process physical and emotional pain from grief, trauma, or chronic illness to find comfort and ease.
