I started this career after raising my children so I have the advantage of wisdom. Life has not always been kind to me but this allows me to relate to so many clients. I have been through much adversity and I feel the most fulfilled when I am helping others. I am kind, non judgmental, and follow Carl Roger's unconditional positive regard.
The first session will be an intake where I gather some background information about you and ask you some simple questions about your presenting issue. If there is time we will begin to talk about whatever is bringing you to therapy.
I believe I am a good therapist because I have a lot of life experience and because I truly care. I will go above and beyond for you.
I love working with children and their parents. Play therapy allows children to use play to express their unmet needs through play which I observe and then share my observations with the parents and we discuss what changes would be beneficial.
I use CBT to identify negative thoughts, emotions, or behaviors that may be contributing to problems, and then work with the client to change them.
Play therapy utilizes play, children's natural medium of expression, to help them express their feelings more easily through toys instead of words.
Motivational interviewing requires 4 key communication skills that support and strengthen the process of eliciting change talk: open ended questions, affirming, reflective listening, and summarizing.
I can help you and your partner improve your relationship. Many times the issue is a communication problem and I will help you learn to communicate effectively. I am here to help you rebuild your relationship.
Being mindful allows one to be fully present in this moment and pay attention to one's thoughts and feelings without placing any judgments on them.
