Hey! My name Alyssa. Is it just me, or does searching for a therapist online feel a little like online dating? You scroll through profiles, a picture catches your eye, you read all the “best parts,” and wonder: Will we be a match? It’s vulnerable, overwhelming, and full of uncertainty. And yet—finding the right person can make all the difference. I’m a licensed therapist in California with 10 years of experience, as well as a certified yoga and barre instructor. My approach blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), somatic and polyvagal-informed practices, and mindfulness. I believe you are capable of healing, growth, and creating a life that feels aligned. My role is to guide and support you along the way. I help people who are navigating challenges such as: Anxiety: When worry feels constant and your body is on edge, I help you calm racing thoughts, regulate your nervous system, and build coping skills so you feel steady. Life Transitions: When big changes leave you uncertain, I help you reframe anxious thinking, strengthen resilience, and trust yourself as you step forward. Grief: When loss feels unbearable, I provide space to honor your emotions, gently challenge painful thought patterns, and help you find moments of relief without rushing the process. Parenting Challenges: When guilt and stress feel heavy, I help you regulate your nervous system, shift expectations, and respond with patience and connection. Trauma & PTSD: When memories or beliefs keep you stuck, I use trauma-informed, somatic, and CBT approaches to restore safety and self-trust. Self-Esteem: When self-criticism overshadows your worth, I help you quiet the inner critic and build a more compassionate, confident relationship with yourself. Together, we’ll work toward relief, resilience, and a grounded connection to yourself and the people you love.

He enjoys working with both youth and adults because he finds fulfillment in supporting others & seeing growth in others. The population Joshua serves ranges from BIPOC (Black, Indigenous & people of color), teen and adult athletes, non-athletes or former athletes, disenfranchised communities and those who are willing to take a leap of faith by choosing to put themselves first. It never ceases to amaze me just how often I have to try to convince others that they are worthy SIMPLY because they exist. This includes you! I want to know who communicated to you that you are not enough and why you value the opinion of said person(s); these types of harmful beliefs are learned, not innate. Let's unlearn them together. Most of my early clinical work has been with children and adolescents with focus on Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, trauma and various behavioral and emotional issues. I have worked in high-intensity and high-crisis environments from school to hospital settings. I am passionate about working with and creating a safe space for folks who belong to BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities. I understand that belonging to a marginalized/oppressed group can result in barriers to achieving and maintaining optimal mental health. I am a cis/het woman doing my best to provide care that is equitable and gender-affirming. I'm always learning and growing as an ally; you will always be safe here. I am also always looking at things through a trauma-informed lens. I'm a busy working parent who understands how hard it can be to do it all. I am currently pursuing a certification in treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders to be able to better support soon-to-be and new parents; this particular journey is no joke! I am certified in treating perinatal mental health disorders (PMH-C) My website: https://kayla-rhodes.clientsecure.me/

I love partnering with people on their journey to greatness. I use a strengths-based approach to help my clients see the choices that are always at their disposal to unlearn past harmful messaging or combat unrelenting present symptoms. As a Black woman, I always integrate the importance of diversity. Playing small to blend in doesn't serve anyone. Whether we're different based on external or internal attributes, we all need to embrace our beautiful and different qualities so that we can live an authentic life. My work also focuses on boundaries, challenging thoughts, and improving communication skills. I integrate role plays, affirmations, accountability, and direct introspection exercises to aid clients in quieting the noise of societal norms to embrace their true joy. I then earned a Masters degree (MA) in 2011 from National University, feeling the need to increase my knowledge and ability to serve individuals and families, which began my journey in marriage and family therapy. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 10 years of experience supporting adolescents, young adults, and families. I began my work in community-based public mental health, serving underserved populations, and that foundation continues to shape how I show up today—with care, respect, and a real understanding of life’s complexities. My background includes working with severe mental illness, including schizophrenia spectrum disorders, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, and complex trauma, so I’m comfortable supporting both early or emerging concerns and ongoing mental health conditions. I’ve worked extensively with low-income communities, immigrants, and individuals from diverse cultural and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds. I also have a strong background working with mothers, particularly single mothers, who are navigating their own mental health while supporting children or adult children with their own challenges. My approach is collaborative and strength-based—I focus on helping you build on what’s already working while developing practical tools you can use in your daily life. I aim to create a space that is calm, supportive, and nonjudgmental, where you can show up as you are, speak openly, and process what you’re going through while also building practical tools to better navigate everyday life.

I always felt that I was called to help others. Growing up in South Los Angeles, I developed a sense of culture and community amongst Black and Brown people as well as a respect for the struggles of BIPOC. I grew up around artists, musicians, poets, leaders, givers, and eccentrics from all walks of life. During this time, I discovered how much I enjoyed listening to people, problem-solving, and motivating others to succeed and explore their authentic selves. I started off as a mentor in undergrad, inspiring other young people of color to attend college and think outside of the box in regards to their futures. I continued working with children, teens, and adults with special needs until I landed a position as an intern at a non-profit mental health agency in South Los Angeles. After I obtained my license as a Marriage and Family Therapist, I continued to grow as a clinician, supervisor, and manager at the nonprofit while also taking on teen and adult clients in the private practice setting. I am now pursuing my dream to work Full Time as a Private Practice Therapist.

I have experience supporting adults, youth, and families from marginalized and institutional backgrounds. As a mental health professional, I advocate to break the stigma and bring awareness to emotional wellbeing & mental illness/instabilities, particularly within communities of color.

I am a board-certified Music Therapist and licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 14 years of experience, serving clients across California and Colorado. My own journey informs my work: I grew up in California and built a successful business before transitioning my life to Colorado. I then spent two years as a digital nomad—traveling by car across the US and living abroad for 1.5 years—all while managing and growing my business. I understand how to maintain excellence while in motion, and I use an IFS-informed somatic and creative approach to help you find that same internal groundedness and freedom.
