New to Grow
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, practicing in this field for over 14 years. I earned my second master's degree in the field of counseling in 2011, from the University of Phoenix. My focus is on providing effective solutions to children/adolescents, young adults, adults, families, and couples. As a practicing therapist, all of my clients are very important to me. I will always strive to meet the client's expectations of me, as their ongoing therapist. in that I demonstrate professionalism, timeliness, high quality care that exemplify the best.
Client can expect to begin our first session with getting to know a little about each other. Client will have the opportunity to ask questions about myself as a therapist and any questions about therapy in general. Client will be able to share the specific reasons for seeking therapy. Client will be able to collaborate with therapist in developing a tailored plan moving forward in our therapy sessions.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is knowing who I am and all of the struggles that I have overcome making me who I am. Another strength is having a positive attitude and outlook towards helping my clients move towards their objectives and goals in therapy. Lastly, having an open and curious mind about the "what if's" and transcending this to my clients to help them to believe more in themselves.
I enjoy working with a variety of people who are in need of my services. I tend to work more with people who are struggling with mental health issues including, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, and trauma. In my time as a therapist, I have acquired the specific education, abilities and skills that qualify me to meet the requirements needed for most people seeking mental health services.
I identify as
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
I have been using the CBT and TF-CBT therapeutic model for over 14 years. I have found that most or all my clients respond to the CBT model in such a way that they become more aware of their presenting issues. CBT is a model that intersects thoughts, emotions and behaviors, which is the core of every individual 's introspective of self.
Couples Counseling
One of the most exciting things I enjoy practicing with is interacting with couples. Couples present not only with their dual presenting issues but also with their individual conflicting issues that tend to complicate the relationship even more, in some cases. My goal is to help the couple explore these two dynamics and work towards complimenting their individuality moving forward in their relationship.
Attachment-based
In my experience, most individuals who come to therapy, have experienced, as a child or an adult, dysfunctional relationships with others. Attachment-based theory focuses on relationships and bonds between people and the attachments that are forged between them. I regularly use this method to identify and explore how those past and/or current relationships negatively affect one's thoughts, emotions and behaviors interacting with others who are close to us.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I have used this brief therapy approach, primarily with individuals, couples and family. I use this as a way to support clients in identifying appropriate solutions and resources to their problems rather than focusing on the problem itself. I help guide them to viewing their challenges, using techniques specifically designed of this approach, to achieve their desired goals.
Eclectic
I often include eclectic therapy in my sessions with most or all of my client's. This type of therapy adapts to the clients' specific needs, their particular problems, treatment goals, and the client's expectations and motivation for therapy. As the therapist, my goal is to identify any and all alternative therapeutic approaches for the best outcome of the client. Therapy is NOT considered a "one size fits all" approach that is intended to relieve or heal one's mental health or emotional issues. Sometimes it takes varying approaches to support effective and successful results for the client.
