I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 10 years of experience supporting adolescents, young adults, and families. I began my work in community-based public mental health, serving underserved populations, and that foundation continues to shape how I show up today—with care, respect, and a real understanding of life’s complexities. My background includes working with severe mental illness, including schizophrenia spectrum disorders, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, and complex trauma, so I’m comfortable supporting both early or emerging concerns and ongoing mental health conditions. I’ve worked extensively with low-income communities, immigrants, and individuals from diverse cultural and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds. I also have a strong background working with mothers, particularly single mothers, who are navigating their own mental health while supporting children or adult children with their own challenges. My approach is collaborative and strength-based—I focus on helping you build on what’s already working while developing practical tools you can use in your daily life. I aim to create a space that is calm, supportive, and nonjudgmental, where you can show up as you are, speak openly, and process what you’re going through while also building practical tools to better navigate everyday life.

I consider myself a relational and systems-based therapist. That means that I value discussing relationships and the impact of them on you. I also seek to understand my client as a whole person and not just your symptoms. At the heart of my work is the belief that the therapeutic relationship itself is meaningful and often mirrors patterns that show up outside the therapy room. Together, we will explore these dynamics with curiosity and compassion and without judgment. I deeply value your goals and concerns, and I also believe therapy is a space where thoughtful, honest feedback can be both empowering and healing. Above all, my goal is for therapy to feel collaborative and supportive.

Hey, I'm Olivia! Are you ready to laugh, cry and create a connection with someone who is not going to give you cookie-cutter responses? Then keep reading. I am passionate about creating a safe space for my clients to throw it all out on the table, be met with compassion and validation and begin to piece together what they want to keep and what they want to toss. Many times in our lives, we put on certain identities and expectations that may not be ours but we keep them on out of comfort, fear, habit, you name it. I am here to help you sift through the pieces of you that you know but also become curious about the parts of yourself that you do not know. During that process, you can begin to find power in your choices and practice the art of being able to decide for yourself who it is you want to be. The stories you have come to believe about yourself are worth exploring and together, we can build a relationship where I will challenge those beliefs with you and assist you in building confidence to shift into your most authentic and understood self.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for things to feel different, you don’t have to figure it out alone. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 20 years of experience providing trauma-informed, evidence-based care. Licensed in California since 2005, I work with adolescents, adults, and families navigating anxiety or depression, trauma, substance use concerns, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. Outside of my work as a therapist, I value spending time outdoors, staying physically active, and being present with my family. I’m a father of five—one son and four daughters, including two stepdaughters—which has given me a deep, lived understanding of blended family dynamics, parenting, and the complexities of family relationships across different stages of development. I enjoy fly fishing, snowboarding, working out, and other outdoor pursuits that help me stay grounded and present—values I often encourage clients to cultivate in ways that feel meaningful and sustainable to them.

Parenting can be tough. You wonder if your child will ever grow out of their excessive worries, meltdowns, or tantrums, and you become exhausted and feel guilty for being frustrated with them. The nightly battles with homework and reports from school are wearing you down. The power struggle with your spirited toddler or your strong-willed adolescent may leave you overwhelmed and wondering what you can do differently. Communicating and feeling unified with your partner or caregiver may be difficult or your styles may be different, creating a state of uncertainty or chaos in the home. It is okay to feel overwhelmed. It is also okay to strive for more. You know the potential your child has, and living in a world where you can better help them navigate their development is possible. My goal is to empower you and your child by finding effective parenting strategies and coping skills that work for your family, allowing your child to thrive. I work with children, families, parents, and caregivers to ease the tension that emotions, outbursts, tantrums, and anxiety can bring children and their families. Parents are welcome for parent support as well as for individual therapy to improve their emotional response when triggered by parenting issues. Children are welcome between the ages of 2 and 7 years for Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Let's begin working towards a more peaceful and intentional parenting experience. I welcome all families from all walks of life.

Hello and welcome. First of all, I would like to congratulate you on your courage to take the first step in selecting a therapist. The thought of sharing intimate thoughts, struggles and personal experiences can be overwhelming and frightening. I hope to assist you in feeling confident that you have come to the right place to express your needs and work on feeling better. I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) from California. I have had the pleasure of working in various settings. For about seven years, I worked at a community mental health agency treating children, adolescents, adults, and families with a variety of needs especially those who have experienced trauma. I have found that each individual comes with their unique story and background. My first experience using telehealth was during the pandemic. With the increase of mental health needs, I discovered the importance of being able to provide services through the telehealth platform. It inspired me to continue to reach those clients who desire telehealth for various reasons. Life can be busy with schedules and finding time for therapy is not always easy. I am a warm, collaborative therapist who is passionate about helping people feel more understood, supported, and empowered in their lives. I work with clients to navigate stress, life transitions, relationship challenges, anxiety, self-esteem concerns, and emotional overwhelm by combining evidence-based approaches with a compassionate, personalized style. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your experiences openly, gain insight into patterns that may be holding you back, and develop practical tools to support lasting change and emotional resilience. I integrate approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and solution-focused strategies to help clients build self-awareness, challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, and move toward meaningful, achievable goals. I value collaboration and meet clients where they are, recognizing that therapy is not one-size-fits-all and that each person’s journey is unique. I also have a strong interest in working with athletes, particularly those navigating major transitions such as career-ending injuries. I understand how deeply identity, purpose, and emotional well-being can be impacted when an athletic career changes or comes to an unexpected end. I support athletes in processing grief, rebuilding confidence, redefining identity beyond sport, and creating a renewed sense of direction and fulfillment. My approach emphasizes resilience, self-compassion, and helping clients reconnect with their strengths as they move forward into the next chapter of their lives.

Welcome I am glad you are here. I am an expressive arts therapist, and I have dedicated my career to anti-oppression work. Creativity heals and can deepen the work you want to do, for those that want to explore in that way. I view therapy as both personal, interpersonal, social and that systemic issues impact healing. Therapy with me is honest, we may laugh together, or I may hold with you your biggest sorrows. You are the leader and I am here to facilitate and co-create the change you wish to achieve. We will chip away at stuckness together. I have also worked with people in county mental health who did not have a choice about being in therapy.

Hi! I'm Dr. Chelsea Acker, a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise working with children and adolescents. I'm experienced with a range of concerns, but I have specialized training in treating trauma, suicidality, and early psychosis. In 2019, I graduated from the PAU-Stanford PsyD Consortium, where I trained at the Stanford School of Medicine's psychiatry department and Lucile Packard Children's Hospital's program at a local high school. I attended internship (our version of residency, more or less) at the UC Davis Medical Center, where I received world-class training in the treatment of childhood trauma and early psychosis, both separately and together. I then completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the Chicago Child Trauma Center, where I continued to build my expertise in the treatment of childhood trauma. After that, I worked at Kaiser Permanente, Oakland, for two and a half years, where I specialized in working with children and adolescents with complex, persistent symptom presentations, who had often been hospitalized multiple times for safety concerns and struggled to make progress with previous therapists.

Search therapists by insurance

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by California rather than a city like LA?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in California. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across California from San Francisco to San Diego! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in California.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Child or Adolescent?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Child or Adolescent, is filtering therapists in California that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What happens during the first therapy session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
