New to Grow
Hi, I’m Jacob Mooradian. I earned my bachelor’s degree from CSU Fullerton and completed my master’s at Pepperdine University, where I focused on counseling and mental health. I take a down-to-earth, non-directive approach, so I’m not here to tell you how to live your life. Instead, I help you reflect on your experiences, gain perspective, and find solutions that fit your world. I love bringing media into our work, like movies, TV shows, sports, and current trends, to make discussions relatable and engaging. My goal is to validate your experiences, support your growth, and help you build practical skills for everyday life. Together, we’ll create a safe space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to move forward at your own pace.
In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and building a space where you feel safe and comfortable. We’ll spend time talking about what brought you to therapy, your goals, and what you hope to get out of our time together. I like to make connections through shared interests, whether that’s movies, TV shows, sports, or current trends, to make our conversations relatable and engaging. There’s no pressure or judgment, you set the pace, and I’ll support you as you share what’s on your mind. By the end of the session, my goal is for you to feel heard, understood, and ready to start exploring your thoughts, feelings, and next steps.
My greatest strengths lie in my versatility and genuine curiosity, I’m a jack of all trades when it comes to therapy, and I make it a point to meet you where you are. I guarantee I’m interested in something you’re passionate about, whether it’s sports, movies, music, or current trends, and I use that to make therapy engaging and relatable. I’m constantly learning and evolving my approach to improve my ability to support each client effectively. I combine practical tools, reflective exploration, and creative methods to help clients gain insight and build skills. What stands out most is my commitment to connecting with clients authentically while adapting to their unique needs and interests.
My ideal clients are teens, young adults, and adults who are motivated to explore their thoughts and feelings in a supportive, non-judgmental space. I am best positioned to serve clients struggling with anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship challenges, or life transitions who want practical tools and insight without feeling pressured or directed. I work well with clients who are curious about themselves, open to reflection, and interested in connecting their experiences to personal growth. I also enjoy helping clients who appreciate creative and relatable approaches, such as using media, sports, or current events to make therapy more engaging. My clients are often looking to gain perspective, develop coping skills, and build healthier relationships with themselves and others.
I use a DBT, trauma-informed, and attachment-based approach because it helps clients build real-life skills to manage emotions, improve relationships, and reduce harmful behaviors. This combination allows me to address both the surface behaviors and the deeper emotional pain driving them. It also creates a safe, validating space where clients can learn to trust, heal, and move toward lasting recovery.
I use a CBT, trauma-informed, and attachment-based approach because it helps clients recognize how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. By challenging distorted thinking and building healthier coping skills, clients gain more control over their emotions and choices. This approach also provides a supportive environment that promotes insight, accountability, and long-term behavior change.
I use a psychoeducational approach because I believe mental health should be approachable and easy to understand. By teaching clients about how their mind and emotions work, I help break down complex ideas into relatable, real-world concepts. This makes therapy more engaging and empowering, allowing clients to feel informed, capable, and active in their own healing process.
I use a Christian counseling approach because it allows me to integrate faith-based guidance with mental health support in a way that resonates with clients’ beliefs. I draw on my familiarity with AA/NA principles, as well as Orthodox and Catholic teachings, to provide spiritual structure, moral grounding, and encouragement for recovery. This approach helps clients connect their faith to coping strategies, personal growth, and lasting behavior change while honoring their spiritual values.
