Hello! I'm so glad you found me! My name is Sherese and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified School Counselor in the state of PA. I have a heart for counseling children, teens, and young adults. I have extensive experience working with these populations in a variety of capacities as a school counselor, mentor, former youth pastor, and now therapist. I enjoy taking a holistic and creative approach in my counseling space.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first couple of sessions, I personally like to do introductions and allow you the opportunity to tell me about yourself and get to know me. I will also do an intake survey to gather some current and background info (such as family history) to get a holistic picture of who you are! Then we will talk about why you chose to start your therapy journey and come up with mutual goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength is my laid back attitude and calm demeanor. I am very down to earth and I am playful. Sometimes we take life way too seriously and to take a deep breath, relax and find the good- big or small- in our lives. I will joke with you and be serious with you when we need to be. I also think a strength of mine is hyping you up and rejoicing with you in your victories and providing support and encouragement in your times of weakness.

My treatment methods

Christian Counseling

My faith in the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), is the most important part of my life and how I view the world. My therapeutic approach is unapologetically drawn from my Christian faith and worldview. My desire is to help people Choose Life (Deuteronomy 30:19)! Jesus is the True Healer- He just allows me to be the physical representation on earth, to help those that He loves. In our sessions, I will offer Biblical Truths through the reading of scripture and taking all matters to the Lord in prayer, because I believe it changes hearts and minds.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy that will encourage you to briefly focus on a trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. It is a scientifically proven way to process your trauma experience, and other irritating issues in your life, safely without re-traumatizing you.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

One of my goals is to not keep people in therapy forever. I believe that we all have certain situations in our lives that can be resolved fairly quickly if you're willing to put in the hard work and effort in doing so. I will be your guide and biggest cheerleader!

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a tool to get to know you as a person, to see how your brain works and how you process thoughts and emotions. We’ll then use that knowledge to hopefully change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.

Psychoeducation

I am a school counselor/educator and I am all about educating and supporting people! We are a team and sometimes the best way to overcome an issue to understand what it is, how it's affecting you, and then come up with the best strategy to face it head on.
