I'm a licensed professional counselor with a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling specializing in helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, and life transitions using a trauma -informed approach. I am open-minded and bring warmth, humor and a down to earth style to therapy, fostering strong relationships with my clients. I understand that therapy can be intimidating and difficult for some. My goal is to offer patience and a safe, supportive environment on your journey to healing.
The first session is all about getting to know you and understanding what brought you to therapy. We'll take time to discuss your goals, challenges, and what you're hoping to get out of our work together. Operating from a behaviorist perspective, I believe that a client's circumstances play a significant role in shaping their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. We'll also talk about what therapy may look like moving forward, including my approach and how we can tailor sessions to meet your needs. Most importantly, this is your time to ask questions, share concerns, and start building trust in a supportive, nonjudgmental space.
A behaviorism focus helps guide my clients toward practical change by addressing how their situations influence their thoughts and feelings. My trauma-informed approach ensures sensitivity to my client's past experiences and focuses on creating a safe a supportive space for healing. I have an ongoing commitment to personal and professional development and am dedicated to combating burnout and providing the best care to my clients.
I work best with clients who struggle with negative thinking patterns rooted in family dynamics. I also help clients understand and cope with anxiety that often stems from an over-adaptation to stress. My personal experiences as a mother of two and a veteran spouse help me connect with those navigating family life or the challenges of military relationships. I specialize in helping those who face daily challenges of stress, trauma, and anxiety, whether in their personal lives or through demanding careers.
Making the client aware of cognitive biases and learning to challenge those to offer different perspectives and decrease impact of symptoms. Cognitive reframing is a constant evaluation of our perceptions. We will establish connections between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
I help clients explore and understand the different "parts" of themselves- such as the inner critic, protector, or wounded child.I guide clients in recognizing how these parts function and how they can work toward inner harmony rather than conflict. This approach helps client reduce shame, increase self-awareness, and build a stronger sense of self, ultimately supporting healing and growth.
I assist client in developing psychological flexibility-learning to accept difficult thoughts and emotions rather than avoiding them. Through mindfulness, values exploration, and committed action, I guide clients in recognizing what truly matters to them and take steps toward a meaningful life.
You are the expert in making decisions in your own life. I believe everyone has the ability to make necessary changes in their lives to best meet their individual needs and function to full capacity. There is no one size fits all remedy and sessions are tailored to meet your needs and preferences.
