In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Your first session with me is all about creating comfort, safety, and clarity. My goal is for you to walk out feeling heard, supported, and confident about the therapeutic journey we’ll begin together. I provide a welcoming and safe environment I start by helping you settle in and get comfortable. Whether you’re a child, teen, adult, or coming as a family, I want you to feel that this is a space where you can show up exactly as you are—no pressure to be perfect or polished. You’ll have time to ask anything—big or small. This is your space, and I welcome questions about the therapy process, what sessions look like, and how we’ll work together.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Choosing a therapist is an important decision, and the right fit can make all the difference. My approach stands out because it blends warmth, clinical expertise, and over 25 years of experience into a therapeutic process that is deeply supportive, empowering, and tailored to each individual or family I serve. I have a strong foundation in trauma‑informed care. I create a space where safety, trust, and collaboration come first. My trauma‑informed lens allows clients to share at their own pace and to feel truly seen and respected. This approach helps clients: Understand how past experiences may shape current feelings Build emotional regulation skills Strengthen a sense of control, empowerment, and self‑worth Clients often report feeling calmer, more grounded, and more capable after beginning therapy with this foundation. My intention is that you leave each session feeling understood, supported, and one step closer to becoming the healthiest version of yourself.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am especially well‑suited to support individuals who: Are you navigating the impact of trauma? Clients who have experienced stressful, overwhelming, or painful events—whether recent or long‑past—and want a safe, steady space to understand how their experiences have shaped them. I help clients build regulation skills, strengthen emotional safety, and reconnect with their natural resilience. Desire a strength‑based approach rather than a pathology‑focused one I work well with people who want to be seen for their abilities, inner wisdom, and potential—not just their struggles. My approach resonates with clients who appreciate collaborative work, empowerment, and focusing on what’s working as much as what’s hurting.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT helps clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. Clinical social workers apply CBT to help clients identify unhelpful thinking patterns and replace them with more realistic, helpful ones, which lead to changes in emotional and behavioral functioning.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is an evidence‑based approach that helps when clients are ambivalent about change.
Play Therapy
Play Therapy is a developmentally responsive therapeutic approach that uses play—the natural language of children—to help them express thoughts, feelings, and experiences that they might not yet have the words for.
