New to Grow
Welcome! I'm glad you're here. My name is Azhar Waheed, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving individuals in Delaware and Pennsylvania. I earned my Master's Degree in Social Work and have dedicated my life to helping individual's navigate life's challenges with compassion, structure, and support. I became a therapist because I truly believe that, with the right support, every person has the ability to overcome adversity and create meaningful change in their life. It is a honor to walk alongside others as they discover their strengths and build healthier ways of thinking, feeling and living. Outside of my work, I enjoy horseback riding, swimming, and arranging flowers- simple joys that help keep me grounded and balanced. I bring that same since of care, calm, and encouragement into the therapeutic space. You don't have to do this alone. I look forward to supporting you on your journey.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Your first session is a welcoming, supportive space where you can begin telling your story at your own pace. My primary goal in our first meeting is to help you feel heard, understood and , most importantly-hopeful! I will ask about what brings you to therapy, the challenges / problems your currently facing, and what you would like to see change in your life. I will ask you thoughtful questions to better understand your problems, experiences, emotional patterns, and goals. This helps build therapeutic alliance and trust. We also begin identifying not only what feels overwhelming, but also where to start and, where your strengths already exist. We have many strengths, we just need to work hard to find them.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
What stands out most about my therapeutic approach is my ability to combine structure with compassion. I don't just provide a listening ear-I help individuals actively understand how their thoughts, beliefs, and behavioral patterns are shaping their emotional experiences. My work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), and Solution Focused Therapy, which means sessions are purposeful, practical and goal-oriented. One of my greatest strengths is helping individuals identify irrational, self-defeating belief systems and replace them with healthier, more balanced thinking.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work best with individuals who are ready to better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behavioral patterns- and who are motivated to create meaningful change in their lives. I tend to challenge individuals in session because I know people are coming to me for help. As a therapist I'm willing to push the limits in session if it means that you will feel emotional relief. I'm not going to always tell you what you want to hear but I will validate your feelings tell you what may be wise and what can work for you when your asking for support and guidance. My approach is especially structured, goal oriented therapy that provides practical tools individuals can apply outside of session. I specialize working with adults and adolescents experiencing, depression, anxiety, chronic worry, trauma, domestic violence recovery, emotional regulation difficulties, personal-related challenges, low self esteem/ negative self talk, and life transitions and relationship stress. If you are ready to work and make change I'm ready to work hard for you!
