LMHC, 5 years of experience
Hi, I’m Chelsea. I’m a counselor who is passionate about helping individuals and couples navigate life’s challenges with support and practical tools for growth. While my faith shapes my values, I work with people from all backgrounds and only include spirituality if it’s something you’d like. My goal is to provide a safe and welcoming space where you feel understood and empowered to move forward.
In our first session together, you can expect a welcoming and conversational atmosphere focused on getting to know you and your unique story. This initial session is an intake, where I’ll ask questions about your presenting concerns, personal and clinical history, and what has brought you to counseling at this time. We’ll also begin to identify your goals for therapy and talk about what you hope to gain from our work together. My goal is to ensure you feel comfortable, heard, and supported as we lay the foundation for a counseling process that fits your needs.
Clients often describe me as warm and empathetic, with a genuine ability to create a safe space where they feel comfortable opening up. I value honesty and straightforward communication, which allows me to gently challenge unhelpful patterns while still being supportive and compassionate. My approach is collaborative—I believe therapy works best when we work together, combining your insight with my professional guidance to move toward meaningful change. What makes me unique is my balance of care and practicality; I strive to be both a compassionate listener and an active partner in helping you gain clarity, build resilience, and achieve your goals.
*Please note I am only accepting individual clients at this time, not couples or families* My ideal client is someone who is motivated to grow and open to exploring new ways of thinking, feeling, and relating. Whether an individual navigating stress, anxiety, or life transitions, I enjoy working with people who are willing to engage in the counseling process with honesty and curiosity. I find it especially meaningful to support clients who value a collaborative approach—where we work together to identify goals, build on strengths, and develop practical strategies for lasting change.
In counseling, I utilize a variety of CBT strategies to help clients increase awareness of the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I regularly incorporate cognitive restructuring to challenge and reframe negative automatic thoughts, as well as thought records to track and evaluate cognitive distortions. To address behavioral patterns, I implement behavioral activation by collaboratively creating activity schedules that promote engagement in positive and meaningful experiences. I also use exposure-based techniques to help clients gradually confront and reduce avoidance behaviors, particularly when working with anxiety-related concerns. Additionally, I integrate problem-solving skills training and relaxation strategies to support clients in developing effective coping tools they can use outside of sessions.
